Won't touch one of these again. They fail far more often than the My Passport version.

What's more laughable about this deal, is that they bundle it with the WD version of a Sandisk Glide thumbdrive wich are notoriously slow for their class.

For those asking. Yes, this will work with Xbox one. Just plug it in.
Do games stored on a USB drive load any faster than ones stored on the internal XBox drive?

was gonna ask what's the different vs My Passport.

I've had like 4-5 My Passport drives (or maybe earlier versions were called something else), and none have had any issues.

Yeah, they used to be better. They figured out how to cut price AND increase profits...guess how.

Where? 4TB is great and all, but 2TB is all I need and just want to hang off PS4 which already has a 2TB installed. A sub $40 2TB is my target, but I have not seen.
A 2 TB won't last you long. Spend a little more and get 4TB instead.

The Xbox one S and X have Sata 3 so it's a 6Gb/s connection, the original Xbox One has Sata 2 which is 3Gb/s. Ps4 and all Xbox Ones have USB 3.0 ports so you'll get a 6Gb/s connection so games would load faster via USB if you have an original Xbox, but same speed on Ps4 and the newer Xbox consoles.

Thanks, I see, so SATA 2 was slower than USB 3.

I'm thinking of using my old 240 GB SSD as an XBox S external drive, maybe that'd be a speed boost.

I doubt external drive will have enough power on such space via usb, given that this one does not have power plug.
Any thoughts?
Powered via usb. Been using it with my one X for a year now!

The drive variant within may be different (red vs blue etc), but the main issue is the simultaneous read/write and shock protection. My Passports can take bumps EasyStores cannot. Considering we aren't supposed to be bumping these at all, that says a lot.

They were just called Passport back in the day, and I have several from then that have had more serious bumps and are still chugging along with clean sectors.

As of the past few years, the My Passport and their variants (Ultra, Elite, Slim) are the only ones which are reliable. I'd even put the WD Elements, which are less reliable, over the EasyStore.

Again, I have had four 4TB EasyStores fail due to long simultaneous reads/writes and slight bumps. I couldn't warn anyone off these more strongly. Wait for the My Passport deals.

Best Buy was selling 2TB MyPassport drives via fleeBay for $30 each a few years back, they sold out really quick. I managed to snag one after I'd placed my order and gotten confirmation, then a 'sold out' notice a day later -- I suspect it's only because I only ordered one & then spent half an hour on the phone with Best Buy to get them to sub a different color (black) of the exact same drive. If I'd ordered 30 of these, I doubt they would have done that.

I've yet to see a deal like that again. Best I've seen is $35 for 2TB MyPassport. I wasn't looking for more storage yet, or else I would have grabbed one. Now I can only wait till Black Friday :/

Unfortunately, with the whole tariff thing going on, I doubt electronics will be cheap anymore. If anything, I feel like they're going to just get more expensive.
