This is a pretty solid deal for a brand new lightstrip. The best deal I've gotten so far on these was around $45-50 for a refurbished one. With the gift card this equates to about the same price (assuming you have something else you want to buy from Best Buy).

With the prices on these dropping everywhere though it kind of makes me wonder if they are about to release a new gen or something....
Strip sold for $49 direct without BB GC last year. This is not a great deal comparatively on this item considering tax and locking to BB for another $10.

How many of the light strips can you chain together?
You can buy the separate extensions to chain about 9m together I think. I've heard that since the power input doesn't change for chaining more strips, the light output per foot/meter decreases though

I'm wondering if this will go for less on BF, I'm keeping an eye open as this is on my list for BF.

I haz a Question!

I've heard that you can use the AliExpress (RGBWW) strips WITH the Hue App. Like the app will actually recognize the strip and use it as a device (with entertainment features disabled). Is this true? If so, how? I really like my stuff to be in sync but love frugality https://static.slickdealscdn.com/ima...lies/smile.gif
My previous comment had a link to the build-your-own strip [char.gd] which describes this.

I have 3 sets of these and they're absolutely fantastic. The above lights are a complete ripoff.

It seems that using a DIY RGB strip doesn't work with Hue Sync or Hue entertainment. It does work in the app for changing colors, turning on and routines.

Maybe, haven't looked. But you can get a controller that should allow any RGB/W LED strip to work: https://smile.amazon.com/s/ref=nb...controller [amazon.com]
Bah, I don't want to add another device to the already messed up EM environment in my home! Big Grin I had a very good experience with the Hue Lightstrip previously (we moved, left it in place). There might be cheaper alternatives, but the convenience is worth it for me.

the functionality is not even remotely close unless all you see is "multi-colors light-strip".

Love mine, going to wait until black friday to buy more for under my kitchen island and above my coffee station probably.

For anyone asking if you need a hub, if you have an Echo Plus you don't need the hub. Just ask it to discover and it will

Good lord. Go buy a $5 USB-powered roll from Walmart. Plug it into a timer and there ya go...saved $50.
That's uh, not how that works. I mean, it does if all you want to do is have something turn on and off at the same time everyday.

Every time this deal appears, people like you storm in comparing hue lights to some random, cheap LEDs on Amazon. Stop already. Nobody is interested in your crappy light strips.

Canceled my order. Looks like the Hue Sync to movies can only happen if watching or imaging off of a computer. May work with KODI but looks to be buggy or too much of a hassle for me when streaming from a NAS.

Wake me up when the lights can be synced easily with Fire TV or another like device.

Still a good price if you are in the market and could use the cool features.
