Have two of these, really like them but they have been $25 twice in the last month.

You're sure it was the portable version with the built in battery? Do you have a link?

Plug in version is $25. Both $5 more than recently but still better than past weeks if you want it now.

I got this on the last deal. Plug in version works great as a bedside alarm clock.

Been using the portable for a few weeks and it's pretty solid. Doesn't make much sense to purchase any Google minis when these are available at this price unless size is a factor. These will make fantastic Christmas gifts.

Unfortunately these can't tell time without a solid internet connection & power. We have garbage internet. So the one in the bedroom is there for everything but an alarm.

Could be argued that the deal here is the open box prices. $16 - $23 for the portable. $14 - $19 for the little one. Maybe save a couple of dollars for those people who have a litter of these puppies that are spilling into the likes of the garage. Assuming they're available near you.

These may well be freebies w/purchase again this holiday too though. The prices lately certainly look like that's where this is heading.

A lot of the open box returns don't work and can't be made to work--they are either hung in firmware upgrade mode (and can't be taken out of that mode) or else the sound will go out intermittently, or they frequently drop wireless.

The good ones are good. But a lot of the returns are someone else's problems available for purchase.

Interesting note: Google Express allows promo code use on the small unit, but not on the portable. Don't know if that's a glitch on their end or what the deal is there.

I can't use code for the small one either. Which code did you use?

I tried with a promo code GE gave me for an order mix up.
It would apply to the smaller one only.

Haven't tried the 20% off new users though. (Roommate has never used GE so I'd be trying that on their account).
