Any tent without a rainfly will eventually allow you to get wet.

If you want a car camping tent that will protect you more and last longer, but easy to set-up...and it's only $35 at walmart.

A rain fly usually provides some coverage that extends slightly outward like the eaves on a house so that you can at least keep a screen open at the top for some ventilation without the rain coming in. If it's raining this tent looks like you would have to keep it completely closed up.

FWIW, the tent that someone linked in the wiki including a rain fly:
https://www.walmart.com/ip/Colema...10&veh=aff

looks pretty similar to the one I used this weekend. It stayed dry in the rain. It's a "4-person" 9x7 tent that is very comfortable for two adults on twin air mattresses.

Most people's tents will go bad from dry rotting for lack of usage before they will for broken poles and over use. If you are a long term and more frequent camper, you obviously will look for something with more quality. For the casual camper (one or two nights, camping in the backyard with your kids, etc.), these will be more than do fine.

Nice price, bought the 6 person....but for 4 really...haha.
Nobody fits the actual number of people in a tent that it's advertised for. That's for if you're ok in just sleeping bags and going head to feet or even different directions to squeeze everyone in. Camping is supposed to be enjoyable, nobody I know would ever go camping like that.

+1 is usually minimum (i.e.- get at least a 3 person tent for a couple). I have a 4 person for my wife and I (used to be just me), and even that is tight sometimes with our gear and maneuvering around an inflatable mattress.

This is the lowest of the Coleman line of tents. If you want something for fun in the backyard, then okay, but there is nothing worst than being caught in the rain on a camp out with a bad tent. You will quickly regret this purchase.

Pretty much what i was thinking. I spent $100 on one just like this but it was from ozark trail and it stays dark. Figure if i get into camping more i can sell it and get another one. I dont see the poles breaking unless youre being dumb with it.

Dick's is not a reputable company. They screwed a lot of paid customers out of their Troy Carbine for financial reasons and worse than that, they lied saying it was to take an anti-gun stance. Pathetic!
They canceled the rainchecks for a black friday deal and gave everyone a $100 gift card because they stopped selling the product. That doesn't sound like "screwing" people. It also doesn't sound like they did it for "financial purposes". As the original markdown was only about $300 off on a $1,100 gun.

Anyway, I would recommend looking at a "Dark technology" version of one of the other tents. I hear really good things.

I love instant tents and instant shelters and have several. But would caution people to pass on these unless they're sure of what they're getting into b/c they lack a rain fly. You can get Walmart clearance for better IMO and at these prices it's not as if you need to be picky about quality. :/ Toss em out in the park all summer for the kids to enjoy at $30-50.

thank you for that information, i was all excited and now i will pass. i think the coleman sundome looks promising but rather spend $37 and under $52. at that price, i will pass. maybe go thrifting and find one https://static.slickdealscdn.com/ima...lies/smile.gif
No problem! I have a Sundome that I found for $37 - Amazon often has sales on them, and ebay can probably be your friend, too.

This seemed like a good deal for a 6 person tent. The reviews on YouTube don't look bad. I'm think about using it as a common area, for people using smaller tents to actually sleep in. This tent is large enough to actually use a heater in.

This video is on the Coleman page for the tent. The rain and wind tests are impressive.
