Any tent without a rainfly will eventually allow you to get wet.

If you want a car camping tent that will protect you more and last longer, but easy to set-up...and it's only $35 at walmart.

Yes, a sporting goods store that sells guns is very anti-second amendment. (sarcasm)
They also clearly timed the Sandy Hook shooting as a way to interfere with their black friday sale.(3 weeks after BF) (also sarcasm)

Also, the prices didn't go up on the guns because of Obama. The prices went up because of market theory. Demand=higher prices. Everyone wanted to buy one which drove prices up. Blaming anti-gun liberals for prices which were caused by gun owners is insanely dumb. There also aren't any good sales on winter coats right now. Who do you blame? Winter?

In the world of sane discussion, I just balked at purchasing this tent. Everyone convinced me otherwise. It looks like a lot of people hate this whole "instant tent" stuff. I never really had problems with regular tents, so maybe that will be the solution.
Can't fix stupid.

This video is on the Coleman page for the tent. The rain and wind tests are impressive.

This is why you don't want to buy a cheap tent that in the OP's link and get one of the better Coleman tents. Coleman tries to appeal to the whole market and ends up covering cheap to pretty good. You can't just buy based on the Coleman brand name. Get one of the better ones that go through testing like this.

Hmm, not sure what to do. I've been thinking I should replace my Coleman Sundome 4 that has been great since 2013 - something like 60 nights on it with no leaks but the zipper is getting snaggy.

I thought this 4-person would be great but it's actually smaller, 8x7 vs 9x7, so my cot won't fit. The 6-person would work for me though. But these have an "integrated rainfly, which means no proper rainfly and not as much ventilation. Another Sundome might work better in my case, especially since they're easy enough to setup that an "instant" version will only save like 5 minutes, max.
Any thoughts on any of this? Good prices, compared to what we normally see.

Keep your politics out of this, and you're wrong. How many more AR-15-enabled massacres do we need?

No, always blame Obama (or either one of the Clintons, take your pick), or mother nature in this case. Duh. Never mind all the fear mongering and warnings of impending doom that prematurely drive up the prices of coats/guns when there is actually no shortage of supply. The meteorologists and people who whine about winter drive the prices of coats up.

I too will pass on the instant tents, as promising as they look before closer inspection. 2-pole Coleman-style tents are quick and easy enough to setup up already, and afford both better ventilation and rain protection, with less to go wrong in the support frame. I'll keep an eye out for a Coleman 6-person dome I guess.

I have a Coleman instant 6 person cabin, and it's anything but instant. It's still a lot of room for the price, so it's worth it for that. The lack of a vestibule is the main reason I wouldn't want to use it in poor weather.

Dick's is not a reputable company. They screwed a lot of paid customers out of their Troy Carbine for financial reasons and worse than that, they lied saying it was to take an anti-gun stance. Pathetic!

Cool story.

For anyone who wants to know, the 3-person is 9.44 lbs. Too heavy for backpacking, although I guess it's a good deal for car camping.
That is a cool story, I also haven't been back and will never purchase from them again.
