a difference I wanted to point out between the newegg deal and the dell's website is the windows 10 home on newegg vs windows 10 pro on dell's website. Not sure how much difference that one should consider due to that.

Adorama had a 9560 4K GTX 1050 for $900, brand new a couple months back. Most likely clearance but I'm sad I missed it.

Did it have the i7 8750h? Sounds like it may have just had the i7 8550u which performance wise is much worse.

I'm not all that familiar with the Dell lineup, but this seems expensive for the specs. Great CPU, but meh on the rest.
So what makes the XPS laptop best in class besides the build quality, performance and battery life are the dimensions.

This laptop is designed for people who need performance but are constantly on the go. When you're constantly traveling, especially for work, the size & weight makes a hell of a difference:

The XPS 15 is 14.06" x 9.27" x .45-.66" and 4 lbs there's not much with this form factor and quality build quality on the market.

Dells got both versions. About a $60 difference.

Too bad newegg doesn't offer financing. I want a new 8750h laptop with great color accuracy for a decent price.

I almost pulled the trigger on this XPS 15 until I read the reviews on Amazon. 50% one-star reviews. Unit seems to have numerous issues. Not willing to roll the dice on this one.

You are not looking at all the "specs". If you had them side by side you would see the Lenovo is not even a competitor. The Lenovo competes with the lower quality, heavier Dell Inspiron laptops.

My current Dell XPS laptop is 18 months old and still gives me 10+ hours a day of battery life and I use it almost every day. It is noticeably lighter, stronger and better built than any competition. And, it lasts a lot longer than the lighter Microsoft Surface laptops which have a short life.My experience is laptops are not as dependable as desktops, and having owned 10+ I've found Dell XPS to be the best value. I generally keep one two years, pass it down to one of my kids in college and buy a new one. Four XPS's in, they are all still working and have great resale value.

I could never find a good deal in open box, how do you check what's wrong in the open box machine? Also do you get good discounts on them? How much did you pay here?
With open box items at best buy, you have to invest time inspecting/using a laptop within the 14 day return policy. Most laptops allow you to inspect the internals without evidence of doing so. I found a stripped screw in my XPS holding down the SSD, got it easily fixed at a local shop.

I got the XPS 9575 4K 16ram/256GB version for 1200 pre-tax. $800+ savings

I also saw the Yoga 930 i7-8550 + 1050ti for $900 pre-tax if anyone's interested. Emeryville, CA location

I'd take those with a grain of salt. I've seen too many reviews where they end up talking about the previous model. There are some issues with the 9570 no doubt (i.e. thermal throttling on high loads, battery life worse than expected) but most legit content I've read indicate the laptop is very solid. I'm very torn between this and an X1 Carbon. Just wish the stupid Lenovo BF ad was selling the current gen and not the previous gen.

Standard return policy for this deal (can only be returned within 30 days). Kind of a bummer they aren't using the extended holiday return policy. I'd buy it no question if it was covered by the extend policy.

Those of you who keep balking about 4k have probably either never used a 15" 4k laptop screen, have magnificent eyesight, or some really nice glasses / magnifying glasses.

Dell XPS is the best Ultrabook on the market. If you want a gaming laptop that is made using cheaper materials, has a lesser screen, and slightly faster specs, good for you... not one is going to try to stop you. This is for people who want lightweight, portable awesomeness, that is actually fast enough to play games at low to moderate settings - but not intended as a primary function. Those who want a true gaming machine should be looking at desktops anyway. This should be paired with a docking station. I have a docking station with two 27" 2k monitors at the office, and a second docking station at home. The single USB-C connection to power multiple monitors, provide charge, ethernet, and peripherals is rocking.

Not to mention Dell offers one of the best warranties in the business for a nominal cost. I would like to see how your plastic "gamer" laptop holds up compared to this bad boy solid anodized aluminum in a few years. There is nothing to not like here.

PS I am a completely unloyal customer and would be glad to switch brands if/when I find something comparable on the market. For now, this is the best I have found bar none.
