Do you need to install the software or just plug and play?

I just returned this mouse...
I did as well. It was nice, but I didn't need all of the extra buttons and features on the G502 since we're not hardcore gamers here. Also, my wife thought the mouse felt too heavy, and I didn't like the scroll wheel. Picked up the Logitech G Pro just now instead, and I'm much happer; its scroll wheel feels more stable and has a rubbery texture that I prefer.

Just plug and play, but the software is needed for custom bindings.

Newegg also offers this mouse for $34.99. For people who live in states that Newegg does not impose state tax, you can order here.

Hey all, currently have a Razer mouse and looking to hop on the Logitech train.

Question though, what does everyone think of this G502 mouse vs. the wired Logitech PRO series ($30 non-Hero, $60 hero). Anyone have experiences with either and liked one over the other and why?

Would help me make a decision Smilie

Looks like it! Thanks for spotting that!
I did an online chat with Amazon Customer Service and the rep told me it was new. I still have my original G502 Proteus Core mouse which is 3 years old and has worked flawlessly. Easily the best gaming mouse I've ever owned. Wanted to have a back-up just in case...

I have both the G Pro non-hero and hero. there isn't much of a difference between the two in physical dimensions. The Hero has a non braided cable that has been updated. If you have small hands, the G pro is pretty much a perfect mouse. I have friends with larger hands use the mouse and found it good but it does get uncomfortable holding it over long hours of play.

Time to upgrade from my nearly 10 year old G500? I tried a wireless G602 and for some reason I couldn't get used to it when gaming. Maybe I didn't set it up correctly or perhaps it's from a decade with the G500. Would I feel more at home with the G502?

auto profile switching of button binds per app mean you have more useful buttons on this than you would think, its a great mouse.

Thanks for pointing it out. Just ordered at my local store and won't have to wait. Worth driving because I game regularly and need it ASAP.

Even slicker. I'm not going to bother picking up the best buy order then I can wait a week for $3 savings and it comes to me!

If you hate being unable to bunny hop on CSGO because your old mouse uses a plastic mouse wheel.

This mouse beats all of them with a metal-type mouse wheel.

12/10 would recommend.
