This is a good price. Just an FYI for all the LC lovers out there- Tj Maxx, homegoods, and Marshalls usually have 1st choice for ~40% off and second choice for ~60% off MSRP. Selections are obviously limited, but here in the DC area there are always Dutch ovens, braisers, and a ton of stoneware in stock.

I have the 6.25qt Le Creuset and that thing is a bear for my wife to lift. I think this one might be too small. Personally I'd buy a 4qt if it was just for one or two people, and I would thibk about getting a Staub like this one:
https://jet.com/product/Staub-Cast-Iron-425-Quart-Oval-Cocotte-Graphite-Grey/6015d79913fc4bf48e4bd34a9afa695f

The Staub enamel cast iron is black and you cannot see staining if that bothers you. I don't worry about a little staining on my LC but if you cook something with wine the staining can be a little annoying to clean.

Yes, they're the premium product in their line. $99, on sale? No need to spring for an LC to do the job of a $15-$30 enamelled cast iron lidded pot. Yea, but you might only get 25-30 years out of the cheaper one. You figure it out.

Then your friends will make fun of you for not owning a Le Creuset . Not worth the embarrassment.

Just thought id point out most people want the enameled white surface of a Dutch oven in order to visibly notice the fond being created black Dutch ovens are typically the less favored because of this reason even if they hide staining

I like cast iron. Lodge is good enough for me. Last forever and can never break.

What does one use these for? I got something like it for Christmas last year and have not used it yet. I Use slow cookers, instant pots, sous vide, but I don't know what to use this for.
