NVME is a protocol, like AHCI, specially designed for SSDs. Physically, it uses an m.2 connecter, but m.2 can also be used for other things, like SATA-based m.2 SSDs or bluetooth/wifi.

The "Ultra m.2" NVME connecter is wired directly to the PCIe controller in the CPU, for the lowest latency possible, whereas the secondary m.2 connecter is routed through the chipset.

Should I wait until BF? This doesn't seem too bad as long as I don't forget rebate

I am choosing to wait until BF and hoping to pick up a beefier board at similar pricing or just a tad bit more.

This is a great motherboard. It has a NVME slot and a m2 slot in an mATX size. I recently got this as part of a MicroCenter deal and highly recommend it.

This looks like a good price for an okay board. Slap in a 2700X and some Ram an indecent video card and you got yourself a heck of a system

Curious why this has both ? Isnt nvme more faster than m.2?

Anyone know if this chipset is expected to support the new "Zen 2" Ryzen 3000 series CPUs?
