Never bought open box from Monoprice. Any comments on the printer and that it's open box?

I have, I would say it isn't worth it. Spend $50 more to get an Ender 3.

For 3D printing, calibration is everything.

Open box items could have bent/twisted frame, rods, bed plates, etc. that could be hard to rectify.

It's possible that the printers are perfectly fine and were returns from users that don't know how to use a 3d printer (it is not plug and play, there is a learning curve).

However, at 140 i think it is
worth the gamble.

Open box means returned, right? Seems like that could be a bad thing. Anyone that is thinking of buying this should definitely check the fine print about returns and warranties, specifically on open box items.

I got an open box no select mini v2 and it didn't have any problems with it. I don't know if this is everyone else's experience as well.

They still have a 30 day money back guarantee and for the returned model they offer 90 day warranty.

I've had one for 2 years now that came with a 1 year warranty. (which basically means you box it up send it back and they send you a new one)

If that apples to the refurbished one as well then if you get a bad returned on, open an RMA ticket and send it back and they'll send you a new one... I'm really considering this myself.

I got the open box for $125 a month ago. It came in perfect condition. The only problem with the printer is the wires on the bed need to be re-routed since they rub against the gears because of a design flaw. Also it can only go up to 230 degrees so abs and petg are doable but not great if you need higher temps. The last thing is that there is just one fan for cooling the heatbreak and nozzle. It's pretty great for the price but I kind of wished I would have gone with the mp select v2 so that I could get 2 sperate fans so I can have control over the part cooling fan, dual z axis lead screws, the ability to print higher temperature s, and a direct drive for filament.
I think you might be referring to the MP Select Mini v2. This deal is for the MP Maker Select v2. The Maker Select v2 does not suffer from the same design flaw with the heater bed wires and has a separate print fan and hotend fan.

I own both the Select Mini and the Maker Select and they're both great printers. That being said, there are better options available right now. I'd probably go with the Creality Ender 3 if you're looking for something under $200.

I've had this printer for a few years. I purchased it as a cheap way to get into 3D printing. Since then I've dumped money into it and still struggle with it most days. The $140 is just the price of entry. You still need a glass build plate, upgraded layer fan, hardware for a z-axis brace, and an all metal hotend for high temp filaments. Approaching another $100 right there. You also need to print quite a few parts to go along with all of this.

Are you looking to print a few things off thingiverse every once in a while? This may be an OK deal.
Are you looking to plug this in and have consistent and reliable results? Move along, this printer is not for you.

I mean, I'd rather go through the work and upgrade this printer. This is a good quality printer. Recommend me a printer under $400 as an alternative to this.
