How does this compare against the Air? They are the 2 I'm looking at.

I'm no expert but I have also been looking at both. I would google people's complaints about the way the remote communicates with the drone. On the Air it's via wifi which gives it less range and reliability. That is the major deal breaker for me. The Air is a little more consumer friendly with smarter obstacle avoidance and interesting gesture controls. The pro has longer flight time and better range. I believe it's more durable as well. From what I recall the cameras are comparable. Don't quote me on that though.

Much better camera, as well as 120fps which the Pro doesn't have.. Less bulky of course. I've seen the pro in action, the Air is the best. If you worry about distance, how often are you going to fly further than 2.5 miles? Much better obstacle avoidance too.

I bought one on the DJI Mavic forum with under an hour of use, 3 batteries & tons of extras with a 1 year warrenty & not a refurb for $595/shipped. Also had bid on one with 5 batteries, & every option made with under 6 hours for $760. Didn't need 2 but that's how it worked out.

Air is newer, and has some more advanced 'features' in the terms of modes. The biggest drawback with the Air for me is the battery life + (advanced) WiFi. I came from a Spark and the (rated) 16 min battery is about 10-12 due to having to come home before if lands itself. It was a great 1st DJI drone for me, but with 12 mins of airtime, I'm left to 10 mins sending the drone out and about 2 mins before I have to head home.

I recently sold the Spark, bought a Mavic Pro and it feels like an eternity that I'm in the air. There is absolutely NO RUSH to get a shot. Plus the OcuSync transmission is great.

I own the air and disagree. It's about stability of connection. The air has a far less stable connection than the pro does beyond the 1000 ft mark for distance. I got my air for 599 back in May and I wish I had found a pro for the same price instead.

I have owned both. Like others said, the connection with the Air from the remote is not as strong as it is with the Mavic Pro. Also, the Mavic Pro has a slightly wider field of view and the controller has a display to keep all the flight data on there.
If you value size and video, the Mavic Air is better. For better range, get the Mavic Pro.

Part 1 [youtube.com]
Part 2 [youtube.com]
You should subscribe when your there, the guy does great videos!
Also, the Air is louder, less range, less flight time.
But its a good drone.
You have to figure out what / why you want the drone. Will you be able to get your video / picture in the time an Air can last on one battery? Will the range be an issue of about a mile? Some say less, some say more.
If your good with that, then the air is cheaper ( even more on sale soon enough ).
But if your wanting to fly around the statue of liberty, ( for example ) I would chose the better connection signal drone.. the Mavic pro.
