Have the echo show and I want to sell it to get this. Hate that Echo doesnt do youtube which is useful if you just want to watch something quick, play kids music or have a cooking recipe lesson (yeah I am trying to kearn).

I have both. Google is prettier, they have screensavers you can choose from. They don't have the news but amazing photos. The show has the news as their screensaver. Which I like too.

I'm not sure on Googles mic yet, but the shows is pretty amazing. Can hear you from rooms away. Googles AI is better, you can talk to it. Instead of talking in commands with Amazon, which also isn't a problem for me but others seem to refuse to just say alexa and then wait a second before saying the command. Google, you can just hey google...blah.

YOUTUBE IS A NON ISSUE. ALEXA ADDED THEIR SILK BROWSER. For those who don't know you can now ask alexa to open silk and pretty much watch, I think, any html5 based video?. Which includes Youtube. You can't use voice commands, but in my experience, even with google you end up using the touchscreen anyways. Alexa has also added HULU and obviously has prime videos.

Amazon has their drop in "intercom". Notsure if hangouts can do the same, but afaik the other end has to accept the call which kind of defeats the purpose.

Overall, its a tough call who you want to give your data to. If it was amazon v anyone else or google v anyone else it'd be a easy choice. I've kept both, lean on alexa a little more though because of more integration. But no doubt, Google has the resources to do cool things in the future.

Anyone know if these will show security cameras if they are google assistant enabled? I can have the cameras go to my chromecast TVs,, so can I have the google assistant send it to this screen too? I haven't researched these much so appreciate your knowledge!

This has a physical window on the camera I believe that you can open or close. I think that gives you the option to use the camera when you want. Isn't that better?
Also it's a physical window not software controlled. So it can't be hacked if you worry about that.

Can confirm, has a physical slider to cover the camera and also indicates that the camera has been disabled.

Betweed the extra 1", better speaker, camera, and ability to turn sideways for Duo calls, this is a no brainer over Google's Hub.

I've had the 10" version of this and was able to display my Nest cam feed. Just say "OK Google, show my front door camera" (or whatever the device name is in your case)

I've tried both the home hub and 8" Lenovo and prefer the home hub much more due to the ambient display, it's compactness, and that we never video chat. Speakers don't matter to me since I have it cast to my Chromecast audio connected to my Sonos setup when asking it to play music. But if the 10"Lenovo drops to around 150, I'll grab one of those for the kitchen.

If the camera is a big deal for you, gettin the Lenovo is a no brainer.

I dont care if it has a camera but I like the aesthetic of the google hub more.
