Saw this last night. I hesitated because it was showing only a 1 year warranty even though it's supposed to come with a 3 year warranty. I'll have to check on this since Electronics Expo is an authorized dealer.

Great deal otherwise.

This seems better than even the TX-NR787, spec-wise, aside from the 2 less channels. Also, 3yr warranty is great.
Otherwise, they seem fairly on par, it just being from last year's line.

ElectronicsExpo.com via Newegg [newegg.com]

  • # of channels: 7.2
  • Dolby Atmos
  • 32-bit digital signal processing engine
  • AccuEQ room calibration w/ AccuReflex
  • Phase-matching bass boost
  • Bluetooth built-in
Onkyo's premium RZ Series A/V receivers deliver a significant boost to the dynamism detail and accuracy of music and movie soundtracks for a listening experience that packs deep emotional impact. The TX-RZ720 features quality components such as large custom capacitors to provide high instantaneous current for fast transients and wideband frequency response down to 5Hz. Discrete non-phase-shift amp circuits clearly focus the audio image and cut distortion even at floor-shaking volumes.

I just bought this on Amazon yesterday for $399. The seller wasn't charging me tax plus there was Discover 5% CB so it comes out to be about the same.

Why/How does Electronics Expo charge differently on newegg/amazon/rakuten?

Has anyone figured out if you get the 3 year factory warranty on this purchase?
Is this considered an authorized dealer?

Does this work with Google home?
Do you guys know of any budget receiver that works with Google home? I have ceiling speakers all over my house that I am thinking of actually using. TIA.

Electronics Expo is definitely an authorized seller. They operate a bunch of brick and mortar stores in the NY NJ area.. Formerly the Wiz. Nobody beat it.. Until it went belly up.

Also.. I saw someone mention Amazon vs rakuten... I Just bought a bunch of ceiling speakers on deep discount from EE on rakuten.. It all got delivered in two days in Amazon prime boxes.. Go figure.

Shame that NewEgg is forcing tax on CA residents when they're just the middle man, unlike Amazon which doesn't do that. And it's still $399 on both Amazon via EE and on EE's own website.

I don't think GH directly recognizes Onkyo receiver (and most of others) as integrated device.

What you can try to do is buy Logitech Harmony which integrates with the receiver.

Then integrate GH with Harmony.

This way you can either use Ask Harmony command "Hey Google. Ask Harmony to turn on home entertainment system" or create a custom GH command to shorten it "Hey Google. Let's party!"

I did this with GH - Harmony - Bose Sound System - Philips Hue. It takes little practice with sequence but once you get it, it's very useful and handy.

I don't see Onkyo as an available "Service" in the GH app.

However, supposedly you can Cast Audio to the receiver:

Stream any music from your smartphone, laptop, or PC to the TX-RZ720 with ease. Control playback with Chromecast enabled apps you know and love from your iPhone, iPad, Android™ phone or tablet, Mac® or Windows® laptop, or Chromebook™.
*Available via firmware update.
Mine arrives tomorrow. I'm hoping I can add the receiver to a group of speakers I already have in GH. Otherwise, I have a Harmony that I haven't setup yet and will play with that.
