Looks like a good deal. I went through the threads for extension cord and none of them had triple tap for $25. All of them were single for $25

Remember that they sell (2) 50' 12 gauge extension packs at Costco all the time for $35, making this nothing of a deal if you're a member. Made in America, too.

Both of these (HD and Costco) are 12/3 SJTW. They are exactly the same wire. I think the guy who made the comment was talking about these compared to others.

The letter designations of SJTW means... service junior vinyl thermoplastic weather resistant.
S - Service just means flexible basically.
J - Junior means 300V insulation. If the J were absent, it would mean 600V insulation, therefore a heavier duty cord.
T - Vinyl Thermoplastic (E would be thermoplastic rubber - not PVC - which is more flexible and more expensive)
W - Weather Resistant

A really heavy-duty 12 gauge cord would be something like 12/3 SEOW -- the O in there means oil resistant. So this would be a 600V insulated oil/weather resistant cable that stays really flexible in the extreme cold. It'd cost you quite a bit, though.

Anyway, 12/3 SJTW will be perfectly awesome for like 99% of uses.

I wouldn't recommend having 2 open ports in the snow.. even if you plug them up water could still end up getting in.. just a bad idea all around....

That's actually a great deal for 12 gauge. Anything thinner makes me wary

I have the 100' version with one tap and love it. Not sure if it's a quality/design thing but it doesn't kink/twist up like my cheap brand one. Made in USA at this price point is amazing.

Should work just fine. Most electric tools use 16-14 gauges. This is a 12 which is even better.

It's not really all the time as Costco's product mix changes seasonally. It's even on sale sometimes at $30 for the two pack though. Example.

Costco had a two pack last year of the 12 gauge lighted extension cords for $29.99. One port at end. It was a way better deal than this.

edit- what the guy above me says. there yea go.

This is a medium duty not a heavy duty 12 gauge cord. So pass.
