The $25 off $250 coupon is sitting in your email right after you sign up (Incorrect not always true)

You must join Costco as a new member by 01/31/19 to receive $20 Cash Card. The $20 Costco Cash Card will be mailed within 4 to 6 weeks of processing your membership application at a Costco location.

Must join at a store by Jan 31, 2019. Gift card expires Jan 31, 2019; $25 off $250 shopping is from a special page. Be careful of the gotchas.Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)

It can for some people--when I was single and lived in California, the money I saved on gas more than made up for the cost of the card.

Now that I live somewhere with sane gas prices, the card might not pay for itself anymore, but I like the store so much (customer service, easy returns, good selection) that I keep going out of loyalty.

Is Costco really worth it? They just opened a brand new one here and some people said it's not all that great. With the 1 membership can I bring my daughter or significant other when I go?
Even if you dont like shopping there. Their gas stations are usually cheaper. Free membership to get cheaper gas. Heck yeah

Depends on what you buy, obviously. I haven't checked, but I would assume there is plenty of guidance on this via google search. I don't buy enough stuff to justify it. I tried it last year on a groupon deal that offered great swag, primarily because Costco were offering pretty good auto rental discounts and terms at Alamo, a discount that I ultimately did not need. I went there to shop once for four of the very few things I can justify buying there, and two of them weren't in stock - dry vermouth and oregano. I stopped at customer service and canceled on the way out. They were very nice about it, but didn't really seem to care one way or another.

Regularly purchasing big ticket items, supplying a large family, business use, not overly concerned about added time and aggravation to save some money, heavy prescription needs, possibly travel discounts - all are probably good reasons to consider joining. What Costco do, they do well. Just remember that there's a difference between better value and lower price.

Want to gift this to someone. Do I need to put their email and check the "gift" box? Or should I put my email and just forward everything to them?

It depends but for me it is worth it by a lot. Gas at the Costco near me is typically $0.75 cheaper than gas stations right down the street. Between me and my wife we buy about 1000 gallons a year in gas. So $0.75 saves us $750. Couple that with getting another 4% cash back on the gas we do buy form the Costco Members credit card and the membership essentially saves us $1000 a year in gas alone. They have plenty of other things that benefit us, but the gas alone makes the membership more than worth it for us . Costco also uses tier 1 gas so its the same as chevron or shell. We actually end up getting about $600 a year back from the Costco credit card in total and the rewards on that credit card are by far better than any other card I've seen on the market. 4% gas, 3% restaurants, 3% travel (hotels, airfare rental cars, etc), 2% on anything you buy at costco, 1% on everything else. No hassell figuring out what the bonus category is each month this is year round. The only thing that was ever better was when discover had the double cash back after a year and 10% cash back on apple pay a few years back. That is the only time i've ever made more money on cash back from a credit card.

What's great about Costco: hot dog with pepsi for $1.50, cooked whole chicken for $6, cheap gas. Everything else, you have to buy in large quantity. Unless you have a big family that can consume it all, most of the time we have leftover and have to throw away the rest. Cheap + wasteful = more expensive. EEK!
