2 dollars more than the lowest it's been.
There's also a Amazon warehouse version for $130.

Made in Japan if that is a selling point for you.

A more expensive cooker will cook the rice much more evenly and keep it fresh for much longer. Honestly, if you're not one to appreciate good steamed rice often then not much. If you're like our family and eat it on a daily basis and want rice that will stay fresh for 2 meals after, then it's night and day different.

'Made in China', the 'Made in Japan' units are the desirable ones....

Yeah, looking for the GABA one also. Also that one looks more "stainless steel" appliance like, so it should look nicer. No discount on that one yet, I just checked.

Agree. Japan quality is much more reliable than China.

Is it REALLY though? https://www.reuters.com/article/u...SKCN1N702T

Whether companies are paying manufacturers to manufacture iphone quality or low end quality is on the company itself, certainly not on the country of manufacturing.

I bought the same one made in Japan. Lasted only 4 years. Rice smells after 12 hours. Seems like the warm setting is keeping it too warm. Dont know if I should get a new pan or just toss it and go with a cuckoo. My pass experience with Zojirushi rice cooker made in Japan only last 4-5 years tops. I've gone through 3-4 of them in the price ranges of $200-400.

What does the GABA setting do differently as far as temperature, etc?

my 5-cup version is 10+yrs old and is trucking along.

If you're fine w/ made in China and 5-cup the cheapest micom Zojirushi option is $80 from BBB w/ 20% off coupon. At that point you might be better off w/ something else though...
