If you want something thin and light with long battery life, MS Surface. If you want the best pen experience and a desktop replacement and don't mind the extra weight, then this ZBook X2 G4.
This slate isn't design for the general consumer. It's for the less than 5% user who are familiar with Wacom cintiq. For most people the MS Surface is a better choice but for the creative designers who want something similar to their company work flow then this is the next best thing to a Cintiq.
My company gave me a fully loaded 8th gen processor 32gb RAM, dreamcolor 4K ZBook for testing. It's a really nice 2-1 and I like it a lot. It's design for business. It's heavy, over 4lbs, similar to my Dell XPS 15 in weight. The pen experience is like a Cintiq. I'm a long time Wacom EMR user and nothing compares. Not the MS Surface, Dell XPS, HP Spectre, and for sure not the Apple Pencil.

This laptop is a gold standard product for artists, so it has all of the ports and pen tech necessary to draw. But the design is bulky and you are losing performance value, although discrete graphics is a plus. It's definitely a niche product, more comparable to the entry-level Surface Book 2 than Surface Pro. But for the price point, any artist looking to up their digital game should grab this.

A bit large and chunky for a tablet and a bit underpowered as a laptop (only dual core, GPU is weaker than a 950m). The screen and pen would be good for artists though.

Super interesting machine! Actually does have a battery -- and 2 x Thunderbolt 3 ports for those looking at eGPU options:

HP's ZBook x2 G4 includes a 90W AC adapter that supports HP Fast Charge and operates using 90-265 VAC at 47-63 Hz, plus an HP Long Life 4-cell / 70Wh lithium-ion polymer prismatic battery that lasts for around 10 hours before recharging is required

This laptop retails for $2,149.00 on HP's website, but B&H has been discounting this product heavily for some time now. Has been as low as $1200 before today. Still a good deal.

Wow, wish the deal had a more video game oriented processor and I'd jump with the Thunderbolt 3. The games I play are cpu thirsty, but man this is a dope deal.
