I was told that unless it's 4k, don't buy the monitor. Should I be shopping with this in mind?

1440p is great for most people and if you're gaming they are easier to drive.

If its not for gaming then I agree, go for 4k instead.

Like dreadful said, running games at 4k resolution requires a really powerful video card so most gamers are still running 1080p or 1440p. Its generally a good idea to run a monitor at its native resolution meaning each bit in the resolution corosponds to one actual pixel on the display, otherwise the monitor has to do down scaling and create groups of multiple pixels that will act as one. Some monitors do a good job of scaling and the picture still looks good and some don't.

This monitor is a really nice deal if you want to do some moderate gaming and don't want to spend a fortune on a top of the line gaming rig to run 4k.

I'm tempted, but it bugs me that regular price at microcenter is $229 and was just on sale for $199.

I just saw that too. Makes it hard to buy this, but I'm thinking about triple monitors and my nearest Microcenter only has 1 in stock, so no go for me.

Don't get me wrong this is a real good price for a 75Hz. BUT I would pay extra for 144Hz.
4k on a 32" is okay but guranteed youll have to zoom in the text, so the real question is what do you do? gaming? photoshop? web browsing?

Please help if this is better than the Dell U2717D for non-gaming everyday tasks (although the Dell costs more) https://slickdeals.net/f/12258976-27-dell-ultrasharp-u2717d-1440p-qhd-infinityedge-ips-monitor-284-99-free-shipping?src=SiteSearch

I just bought this yesterday from Dell and was wondering the same. Although I had to go with a 27 to fit my existing multimonitor setup!
