I had one of these previously but it was defective so I sent back. With it dropping to $629 Im sold. As much as I would like a 4K projector this is to good to pass up for movie nights. Plus gaming is a huge plus

I just bought a refurb off ebay for the $509 during the 10% ebay bucks. I really wanted a 15 or 20% off sale, but over the 3 months I've been watching, its never been in stock during a sale.
Back in July I nearly bought another one the next day because the stars aligned and I had one in my eBay cart with the 15% coupon but was afraid I would have to pay return shipping from the one I ordered at BenQ Direct. Come to find out they had free return shipping and I'd of saved $50 if I returned it and pulled the trigger on the eBay one. I unsuccessfully tried to get BenQ direct to refund the difference however they wouldn't do it because they said they didn't control the eBay coupon or something. Unfortunately the BenQDirect order arrived and the foot was missing. I found it loose in the box and was able to reattach it myself. BenQDirect offered to fix it and ship it back but I hadn't even turned it on to see the performance the first time at that point. I bought a ceiling mount anyway so the foot missing would have been fine I suppose.

Anyhow you will love this projector. I use mine more than I thought I would

$500 might not get you a good picture quality one; Some entry home entertainment BenQ 3300 lumen MH530FHD or Optoma 3000lumen HD143x are on sale now you can start with. If you need a "long life" one, you really need to pay more to get some LED ones, but current over 1000 lumen LED (I mean true ANSI 1000 lumen, not those "marketing" 1000 lumen) is still over $700 or $800.

From what I've read you can't beat this one at under a $1000. With being on sale for $629 i would at least try it before anything else.

2050A (new) has 3 yrs of limited warranty vs. 1 year warranty for most other new projectors. Considering that, it's not bad deal. Pulled trigger for one from BH, to avoid tax.

You can get this projector for $604 on projectorpeople.com if you are a first time buyer. They give me a coupon code (save2018) when you sign up and you can apply the coupon which subtracts another $25 from the total order.

Or buy it from Benq through ebay and get 10% back in ebay bucks if targeted. I am, but am probably holding out for a 4K that will work for me.

I guess if being used just for movies in a completely dark room this lumens rating is OK...
2 yrs ago I bought a BenQ MH470 rated at 4000 lumens at the benq refurbished site for about 650. Projector they sent had 4 hrs on the lamp. And we now use it as the main TV due to the high lumen rating. Can watch anything with lights on, no issues.
