For a crop sensor go with a 35mm 1.8g but this is a great price for a great lens. Usually 200$+. Great lens for a d3400 starter kit that will destroy the stock lens

I am a novice photographer and have been waiting for months for such a deal. I have done lots of research comparing 35mm and the 50mm. There's a long debate over which one is better. Seems you won't go wrong with either one.
This deal is GREAT though, haven't seen anywhere lower. But I'll still use my citi card in case price protection is needed.

Can you elaborate on who's debating?

I'm a novice here as well and I bought both a 35mm and this 50mm prime when I got my D7200 a couple of years ago. Out of all my lenses these two are probably the most used. I made the mistake of purchasing a bunch of low end zoom lenses which never get any use.

Yes gray market so no warranty or possibility of repair from Nikon as they won't touch gray market gear.

There's also much less chance it will fail compared to other toy zooms. If you drop it there's no warranty anyway, and any repair would probably cost at least as much as this deal.

I'm a ametuer photographer, and have the 35mm lens. Would the 50mm be worth getting as well, and is this considered a wide angle lens?

This is an FX lens and will be 75mm on a DX camera. Good for portrait photography, right?

For you, the 50mm is a great lens @ this price. The 50mm is considered short telephoto, especially on crop sensor like you probably have. It's nice for portraits with out of focus backgrounds. It's difficult to find a sharper lens than this for under $1000.

Not a wide angle lens. 18mm would be wide angle.

Never had a problem with gray market. My full frame Nikon is gray market and I've had it a couple of years with no problems. This deal popped up just as I was looking at Amazon and was about to pull the trigger. Great timing.
