Besides the flex in the build, this is a great deal! Similar to the past deal, but with an i7 instead of i5.

This or Thinkpad T480 which is also coming to about the same price for the similar config...? One thing more, Costco is calculating tax on the listed price not on the discounted price + $15 shipping.

Does the Thinkpad weigh under 2.2lbs?

Starting from 3.6lbs. For my T480 config, the plus points are bigger 14inch screen size, non-glossy display, WQHD resolution, and better resale value. Whereas for this Gram 13, I can get i7, 256 SSD, less weight, and better contrast (but have to deal with the reflective display).

I believe that was a rhetorical question.

I'm in the market for a laptop, and this one has gotten great reviews, but damn me if I can't get past that gigantic bottom bezel...

I don't about the 13 but 15 should have thunderbolt. I'm not sure if it's 20gbs or full 40gbs, though

The RAM is upgradeable, at least for the 13Z980-A.AAS7U1. I did a ton of research on that model before buying. It has one 8gb stick, with an extra slot for another to total 16gb. I believe the original 8gb stick is soldered on, so you can't replace it and have two 16gb sticks. The SSD is also upgradeable. Overall, I'm really happy with the purchase of the 13Z980-A.AAS7U1.

However, this Costco model is 13Z980-A.AAS6U1. According to LG's site for that model, the system memory is listed as follows:
"8GB DDR4 2400MHz - 4 GB x 1 (On Board) - 4 GB x 1"
This is odd since it says it has 8gb, but then only mentions one stick of 4gb. My guess is that it has one 4gb stick soldered on, and then one empty slot. So you could upgrade to 12gb by adding one 8gb stick, but you can't remove that permanent 4gb stick.

You might want to look into it a little more before purchasing, or otherwise just go with the 13Z980-A.AAS7U1 if you can.

If you're looking for a bigger size, Costco has a great deal on the 15.6" variant which IMHO, might be a better deal unless you prefer the smaller size/form factor.
