What are the differences between this board, and the Taichi's from ASRock? Other than losing two SATA 3 6 GB/s ports (who needs 8 in a motherboard meant for gaming!), a front panel USB 3.1 port and a slightly inferior audio chip, I don't see anything else on Newegg compare?

some differences in voltage regulation too. Taichi is supposed to be better for OC.

It is on the "do not buy" list

https://docs.google.com/spreadshe...1691033858

It can not handle 4.2ghz under any conditions, and even 4ghz is considered iffy.

Where is this taken from? I've heard some issues related to VRM and "HARDCORE" overclocks with this mobo, but i havent been under the impression a 4.2 is unsustainable "under any conditions"

Based on the chart, it can only handle stock speeds.

Wow thanks for this, additional research pulled up a ton of issues with this board. More than half the claims it makes are false. Saved me a headache!

You can get a Taichi non ultimate x470 for $160 this week. It is considered the gold standard when it comes to a robust mobo. I just bought it. it fits the bill for encoding dts live so i can have 5.1 in games, bought a cheap ryzen 3 2200g to hold me over till next year when the zen2 comes out. Now i can use the "on board trick" to have freesync on my gtx 1070, to hold me over till the vega 64 space heater replacement comes out in 2020.

Just to add, right now at least if you comb this MB with the 2700x you get a $50 discount. Despite this MB being mostly only a stock MB at $99 after rebate then $50 discount bundle with a 2700x not a half bad deal if you don't plan to do any OC.
