Newegg offers MSI GP Series GP63 Leopard-428 Thin & Light gaming Laptop @ $1299 after $80 Mail In Rebate

This Laptop is a very powerful gaming laptop, having a 120 Hz 1080P Screen, 6 Core i7-8750H and full GTX 1070, not the Max-Q version. But it still weights only 4.80 lbs, normally we see in high end 15.6" Ultrabooks like XPS 15 or Specre 15.

Some of the states forced Newegg to charge State tax, not All. Connecticut is one of them. There was a big issue where people started receiving, including me, from IRS and Newegg, to pay taxes for the item purchased for last 4/5 years. Some people actually paid it and after some time, newegg cancelled it and paid the taxes. But no way to recover the money for the people who already paid that tax.

If only the increasingly powerful federal government didn't just screw us all by forcing Newegg and other online retailers to charge sales tax, regardless of the state. Only going to hurt businesses and consumers alike.

But good find OP. Thanks.
I'm in Georgia and it's not charging me tax. Perhaps not all states?

Good find, OP. That's $50 cheaper than the last time this appeared on SD.

EDIT: This is NOT a one day Shell Shocker deal, despite Newegg sending an email stating that it was.

Should also be mentioned that this is a one-day Newegg shell shocker deal, good 11/19/2018 only.
Where do you see this is only for one day? I see "Sale Ends in 6 Days (Sat)" and the rebate is good until 11/27/2018.

So they can sell you the MSI GS65 Stealth instead [msi.com].

See the attachment that I added to this post. It was in Newegg's Shell Shocker daily email and listed as valid today only.

Edit: I was wrong on this. Still looks valid today, 11/20.

For the price, is this the best gaming laptop I can get? $1300 fits what I'm hoping to pay and this seems to hit most of the marks I was looking for. The small SSD isn't great, but that can be replaced. Is there anything else that would strike others as a red light?

Interesting. I'm not sure what to believe with this conflicting information. I'd love to see what deals come out in the next few days, but I'm sure Newegg would rather that I buy now. Nevertheless, the website does show "Sale Ends in 6 Days (Sat)", for me at least.

half a pound in weight savings feels a little overpriced. They make some compromises too. It gets very hot you are more likely to be thermal throttled. The fans are very loud if you plan to use 80% of that power. You don't get the num pad on the keyboard (I need this). The frame although it is metal it's still fragile. Don't get me wrong there isn't anything else on the market to compare with GS series but it's a little more counter productive when fighting off compromises.

On a side note the slightly heavier GS63 Stealth (8th gen intel) improves on some of my complaints above but not all of them. Everyone's needs are different.

Fingers crossed MSI releases GP series with thunderbolt 3!
