Maybe a helpful part is if the item is online or in store only?

near me - Macy is 3 different building (1. Men 2. Women 3. Home)
so getting this FAR from 3 different building is not easy, and also it will be difficult to locate.

Frys has some software like Kaspersky showing as free in their ad, but it's not clear that it will be available online (it claims in-store only). Will have to wait for the sale to begin to see. I remember when there used to be a whole sh*tload of FAR software at places like Staples. Those were the days!

Update: Frys currently does have some stuff like Avast and AVG free after rebate(s) with free shipping.

This link should show some free stuff. Some require a code that you get in their email.

I sure do miss the days of rampant rebates. So many free or nearly free items! It used to take several hours to prepare all the rebate stuff from my BF hauls. Then I'd have to create a chart to keep track of them all.

The FAR deals actually started today for cardholders at Macy's. So don't expect much in terms of doorbusters unless stores are allotting some separately for that day.

Does anyone have a link to Fry's BF circular for online purchases? The only ad I've seen from them says "in-store only" for every item.

Like I said, "it's not clear that it will be available online (it claims in-store only)". But other stuff is showing up as free online so hopefully the stuff in the ad will be as well. Also, the Norton stuff is showing "coming soon" online and the ad says in store only.

If it's just the anti-virus software like the comment says above, I wouldn't even bother. Or, I'd go for the download. Fry's for shipping and rebates last year was a mess. So, I suspect they learned and chose not to ship much of anything this year. If the anti-virus stuff is all they have, I'd suggest going for the download. Some anti-virus companies and other software companies are literally selling (and shipping) empty boxes with a code to go download the software. (No joke, several of the software packages we got from Fry's last year were just that!)

Not sure what you bought but I haven't had problems with Frys shipping or rebates. Yeah stuff might be backordered but so long as you get in time to mail the rebate (generally 30 days) it's not a problem. As for rebates, obviously that is up to the manufacturer but Kaspersky has been fine for me, and Norton uses Parago which is reputable. You just need to make sure that you follow the instructions. And yes, many software packages these days are just an activation code, you need to download the software. So if download is an option, that is preferable (just make sure to follow the instructions on what to send with the rebate since you won't have a UPC).

Well, between back-ordered items, and living on the East Coast which is the furthest from most of their stores (which I realize is not the case for everyone), so many of our items arrived late. And one of our rebates finally came in last month. It just seems like they were overwhelmed and a bit disorganized. In the context of almost no shipping of deals this year, it seemed safe to assume they made the change based on the headache of last year.
