Not really, normally when these are sold direct its these little kinks that they use to make you jump to the next higher model. The 1TB drive in this is a waste, but if it has a second easily accessible bay just put in a SSD and rebuild the Os on it and use the 1TB for storage.

Seems like the best deal currently for a gaming desktop. I been monitoring the last 3 days and have not found anything good. This is last years I7 but it will make very little difference compared to the latest gen. The graphics card can handle maxed out settings on 1080P and mediumish settings on 4k. Good amount of ram, only change is they will have to upgrade to an SSD.

If I dont find anything better soon, my nephew is going to be getting this for Christmas was hoping on something with a 1080 for around $1K but no love, this year.

What is this one compared to Power Specs G315 that Micro Center has for $999. I reserved this one. It has I5-8600k + 1070 + SSD. So I think this maybe a better deal? Let me know what you think!!! Please.

Tax kills it especially since Adorama does not charge me tax on their website. Newegg insists on putting it in though even though Adorama is the seller.

I ordered this 2 days ago for $900: HP Omen Obelisk with 8th Gen i7, HyperX 16 GB RAM, 256 GB SSD +1TB HD, GTX 1060 3GB. The deal got very little play over the weekend and I think it was underrated. Its a bit of a toss up between the 8th Gen i7/SSD or the 1070. I'm ok with what I got.

Plus, I was able to finance for 18 months via Best Buy.

I am looking for a little more future-proof. This Mobo does not have an M.2 slot for SSD, and H170 chipset does not support M.2 boot anyway, right?

While all other hardware is better, the graphics card really is what makes it a meh deal. A gimped 3GB 1060. On a plus side when you start seeing the impact even on 1080 gaming probably within 1 year you can upgrade the card to something better. I do like the one you bought but it really needed to be a higher end 1060 to justify the $900 price point. Also at least you got a newer more feature packed mobo.

Per this doc, looks like it has 2 M.2 slots.... As for booting from M.2 I am not sure I will let you do your own research on that.

Also watch out that some HPs only support NVMe over M.2. They don't tend to indicate it on the motherboard specs. I guess it saves them a few bucks on SATA PCIe bridge.

I agree that I didn't score the mother of all deals, but I've hunting religiously for the past week and in every single deal, there's one "meh" point to it. I was originally eyeing the $650 deals from Walmart, but when you factor in the cost of the upgrades to either ram and/or CPU, the Obelisk deal looked more and more attractive. My son mainly plays Fortnite so the 1060 even at 3GB is fine. I do like the aesthetics of the Obelisk case (although this Omen ain't bad either) better than the cheaper Walmart ones and finally the Best Buy financing sealed the deal for me. Outside of this deal tho, with similar specs, I didn't see anything close to $900. Closest was at $1100 and those weren't for i7.

If you don't mind going up $100 and going with Ryzen7/RX590, then this deal addresses all the weaknesses of the Omen one: https://slickdeals.net/f/12353191-cyberpowerpc-liquid-cool-ryzen-7-2700x-amd-radeon-rx-590-8gb-16gb-ram-240gb-ssd-2tb-hdd-wifi-windows-10-999-99?src=catpagev2
