Opinions? I'm new to VPN. I'll be "cutting cord" on TV service and will be using Kodi and downloading movies from YouTube or online websites. Recommendations?

I feel like you get what you paid for.

Free VPN - not worth it.

One of these low fee life time services. Probably slow.

I heard good things about windscribe, but their fee isnt that high either but higher.

Nord VPN is pricier option, but Im sure it is faster.

Cord Cutting -

HDTV + HD Antenna = 10 or so local channels, Abc, NBC, CBS... the big channels.

+ Netflix

+ that $12 Hulu deal

———————————————————

This should satisfy most of your viewing needs.

VPN is must for any torrent or Kodi 3rd party apps.

I am also new to VPN. I recently subscribed to Surf Shark, after seeing a SD post. I can say that I am very pleased. The current deal, if subscribing two years, comes out to $2/month. I had a great experience with their support. I was attempting to find firmware to make my router Open VPN capable(you don't have to), and he spent a lot of time searching. In the end, I loaded it onto my Fire TV, and it is very fast and easy to use. Whatever you do, research VPN on the tech. sites(cnet, pc mag, etc...) They do a good job laying out the pros and cons of the best VPNs. Also, search for the specific VPNs to see how they stack up across different reviews. Most will say to avoid US, and some European, based VPNs.
One last note regarding cord cutting: explore your public library. You can get a lot of viewing content when series & movies are released on DVD. However, if you use Kodi, you should also be able to get it all there.

Using a free VPN? Why not skip the middleman and just send your data to President Xi?

Your traffic will go through VPN on top of Comcast. If VPN can only pass 10Mb- this is what you will get while connected to it.

That's your ISP speed. What you have to consider is your VPN's connection speed. Some of them can be incredibly slow. In which case, when you turn your VPN, on your access speed is the speed of the VPN, regardless of your ISP speed.

When posting these things, please include a list of geographical server locations. I cannot access from work, and even then sometimes it's not easy to find, but very important imo.

Torrents for sure. Why do you need VPN for Kodi? So far, no end user has ever received a copyright infringement letter for streaming. Unless some Kodi apps stream torrents like PopcornTime used to? Genuinely curious...

Too funny. So you need a VPN for movie theft but you don't care who might be actually running the VPN you choose? Maybe the movie industry or the US government is running some of these services? It's what I would do if I were in charge.
