So everyone knows, the gray speakers are officially **discontinued** by Insignia. Https://www.insigniaproducts.com/...-G/5865902

IT'S NOT THE SAME!
They are $5 more than previous deal. $25 is for the non portable one. Portable one is sold at $30 instead of $25.

Update: this very popular deal is available again (FOR $5 MORE)

There is no battery backup. The clock will only show the time when the device is connected to the internet. If the power goes out, then comes back on, and this is able to reconnect to the internet, the proper time will be shown.

The portable unit is sold out online, and sold out in many stores. I'm pretty sure that Best Buy is closing these out permanently, which is a shame. I do think their MSRP was too high, and people chose the actual Google branded Home speaker instead since the prices were pretty much identical. Had these been priced $30 less, I think they'd have sold a lot better.

That said, these speakers are an absolute steal at these prices compared to the Google Home Mini and the Google Home units. The sound is fantastic and they do everything that the Google speakers do at a fraction of the price.

Want hi fidelity? Want a drop dead sexy speaker? There are tons of those. They start around $400 and go on up to $25,000+ depending upon how exacting your tastes and ears are.

Most people bitching about these though have champagne tastes and a malt liquor budget, and just like to be all hoity toity about how a product subjectively looks.

As they say in Texas, they're all hat and no cowboy.

Looks like a nice deal- if it does everything Google Home does, it might be a steal.

Grabbed one of these about a week ago when it was this price (portable one was $30) but still holding on to it hoping the price drops to $20 for this one like it has in the past.

Is there a typical battery back up for the clock feature in case of electrical outage?

I'm asking about the regular unit without built in rechargeable battery.

I just bought the "portable" one too for the rechargeable battery feature. It should provide continuous clock function in case of electrical outage during the night. Can someone confirm this?

Thanks to previous post about the regular unit not having the battery back up, but can reset once electricity resumes.

Even the portable one will not show time without being connected to the internet.

When the clock resets to the proper time, will it have saved the alarm setting so that it will alarm at the pre-black out setting? Or does all alarm setting get erased because of the black out?

Does this unit have one alarm setting feature, or can you set two alarm settings as some alarm clocks have?

Alarm settings are saved.

You can have multiple alarms.

Well that sucks, I was planning on replacing the alarm clock on my nightstand with this but thinking I might not now that I know there is no battery back up of any kind.
