If you're making a fancy $6 pour over you have to do multiple slow even pours over the coffee, the skinny long spout helps you slow and control the speed of the pour.

It helps control the flow of water which matters more in pour over.

Maybe it's just me, but why have such a long skinny spout? I could see that breaking easily or getting in the way.
I have this the long skinny spout is good for pour over coffee. I'm not worried about breaking it but it could get in the way if you don't have much room.
Overall I've been happy with it I ordered mine a year ago today on Amazon. My only complaint is that it is supposed to hold its temperature for 30mins after it finishes warming up and it definitely does not do that. It keeps it warm but not at the set temp.

Curious as well. Know commonly used for pour over coffee, but not quite sure why
it's easier to aim where the water goes when you're doing an aeropress or pour over coffee. the spouts that are just indentations at the top tend to dribble the water down the side of the kettle unless you get to the breakover point of them pouring straight out, and then at that point you no longer really have control.

with this design you an very effortlessly pour slowly. normal spout designs are not well suited for precise pours.
this matters if you have something like a V60 or kalita wave pour over where you want to pour slowly and precisely.
if you are just making tea, this feature is not needed.
