Give me a break. Do you have any credible or conclusive evidence that Nvidia driver support is better? That myth has been perpetuated for years and the fact of the matter is both AMD and Nvidia have great drivers. There are some areas where each has the edge over the other but both have good drivers. Anecdotally, I've used at least a dozen video cards from both manufacturers (current card is a 1080Ti) and neither one has any major driver issues from my experience.

As for heat output, the blower cards actually do a pretty good job of keeping temps in check. Link to Anandtech review [anandtech.com]. The custom cards with bigger heatsinks and more fans are better but I don't get where you think the base 580 overheats. Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)

Same with noise levels. The blower 580 is actually quieter than the base GTX1060. Link to review [anandtech.com].

The 1060 does use less power than the 580 (~60W less [anandtech.com]), however the cost savings each month for electricity are minuscule, like pennies unless you game 8hrs a day, every day and even then it's ~$1.82 more per month with electricity at $0.13 per kW/h. At a a more normal 10-20hrs of gaming a week, it's only $0.30-0.60 per month extra. For those who live in a warm climate or game in a small room, the reduced power consumption of the 1060 might make more sense for them but in terms of the extra cost of electricity, it's hardly anything.

Did you read the article you linked?
""AMD Radeon HD 8000 Series (HD 8400 and below), Radeon HD 7000 Series (HD 7600 and below), Radeon HD 6000 Series, and Radeon HD 5000 Series Graphics products have reached peak performance optimization as of November 24th, 2015."

Those older cards had been fully optimized over a period of many years and AMD was no longer going to expend resources to look for more optimizations. That doesn't mean AMD no longer had drivers for the old cards. Nvidia does the same thing [pcworld.com] and it's smart business sense IMO.

A 450W power supply would work just great with an RX580. Did you not read the link I posted where TOTAL system power consumption was 324W?

Are you seriously proposing that Anandtech is paid by AMD to write favorable articles? Did you just write that to try and strengthen your case about how terrible the 580 is all the while having no idea which review sites are reputable or not? Me thinks so...

Been using this card since autumn, doesnt go past 65c once you set the fan curve correctly in msi afterburner. It gets loud but not an issue if you game with a headset or don't care about noise.

That's a crazy deal on a great faming card. This would handle 1080p with ease and 1440p with a few settings turned down in the more demanding games.

If you want to do some research there's a guy on YouTube who analyzes the components and printed circuit boards. Everything leaned towards XFX or sapphire, depending on the model.
