This is a good deal on a not so good camera. Good deal in the sense it is cheaper than you can buy it anywhere else for this price and can probably resell it for more than you paid.. but if you are looking for the best camera for say 500 or less you would be much better served to spend some more money if you can spare it.

This camera is really old tech and spec by 2018 standards. The kit lens has a slow aperature. The telephoto lens does not have IS so you need good light or tripod to maximize it.

The Nikon D3400 is a much better entry level dslr for not much more investment. But if you aren't dslr fan already and don't need that OVF then a mirrorless is where it is at, Sony and Panny having some great value. Sony A6000 is still insane on performance for the money with the only downside being the cost for glass compared to dslr, but you can use adapters for other mount formats, even for AF and variable zoom if you are willing to compromise a bit.

Buy this if you just want to play around a bit and not going to be expecting your pics to look like Nat Geo results when you print them. You can resell it used for a while for as much as you pay here so it's hard to lose if you if this is more of a trial run or mess around camera.

If you are trying to get the best camera without breaking the bank get a deal on a Nikon D3400 if you prefer dslr and otherwise go for a deal when a quality mirrorless comes up.

I used to shoot DSLR and now just use mirrorless and large sensor compacts. Different strokes though.

this is is some of the worst advice i've ever seen on slickdeals. while the 75-300mm kit lens is nothing amazing - it's well worth $30 to a beginner to get the 75-300mm range in addition to the 18-55. 55 is NOT versatile enough for most people, hence the kit and wide range of telephoto lenses available for purchase.. all for a lot more than the $30 you'd get it for in this kit

But that costs nearly twice as much

If youre thinking about this, save the money and skip on the 300mm.

Just to clarify. If you want fuzzy bird pictures get the 300 mm. The 55mm is versatile enough.

Sorry, disagree. Save the $30 and get a used prime for $80. Much more use than that 300mm they have been trying to get rid of for years.

+1. Before you buy a DSLR google mirrorless to understand.

Does Adorama have free returns? I may return my BF bundle to avoid the rebate hassle.
