From the creator of the wildly popular webcomic xkcd, hilarious and informative answers to important questions you probably never thought to askMillions of people visit xkcd.com each week to read Randall Munroe's iconic webcomic. His stick-figure drawings about science, technology, language, and love have an enormous, dedicated following, as do his deeply researched answers to his fans' strangest questions. The queries he receives range from merely odd to downright diabolical:• What if I took a swim in a spent-nuclear-fuel pool?• Could you build a jetpack using downward-firing machine guns?• What if a Richter 15 earthquake hit New York City?• Are fire tornadoes possible? His responses are masterpieces of clarity and wit, gleefully and accurately explaining everything from the relativistic effects of a baseball pitched at near the speed of light to the many horrible ways you could die while building a periodic table out of all the actual elements. The book features new and never-before-answered questions, along with the most popular answers from the xkcd website. What If? is an informative feast for xkcd fans and anyone who loves to ponder the hypothetical.

Cant' recommend this book enough - I have probably given 3 dozen copies as gifts to friends and school libraries and the Kindle edition is perfect for xkcd size entries!

Bought it based on your comments and reviews. Had never heard of this author nor his webcomic. That being said, if I don't like this book, I'm coming for each and every one of you! 😒😄

This guy is, and I don't use this word lightly, a genius. He wrote the xkcd comics which were brilliant and this is just a more serious but still fun successor to that work. Just great stuff.

Why is it harder to apply credits for digital purchases through Amazon now? I've tried the 1click Buy in the past & my credits were NOT applied. Amazon makes it difficult to find and apply credits. Anyone else having trouble? Is there a workaround that works consistently?

This book is fantastic! If you enjoy XKCD, you'll certainly enjoy this. If you enjoy science, you'll probably enjoy this, too.

One of the "What Ifs" is calculating how much horsepower Yoda can generate 😁, you will not be disappointed!

new comics every monday, wednesday, and friday isn't regular? or are you talking about the "what if" section? xkcd is his main site, and even through holidays, he hasn't missed a beat. "what if" is just the side hustle.
