2 Smart Samsung TV's, 2 different Netflix versions

3,681 1,801 December 4, 2018 at 01:40 AM
I have a UN55ES6100 and a UN65ES6500.

On the UN55, i have Netflix Version 4.00401, and on the UN65 i have 3.10502. The main issue is that the 3.1 does not allow the switching of profiles like the 4.0 version.

When i go into the app store on the UN65 and pull up netflix, there is no option to update. The TV doesn't seem to have any updates, and i have already reset the TV and then did the update.

Both these TV's are part of the same series, so i'm not sure why i can have a more updated version on one and not the other.

Any suggestions as to whats going on here?

if you have updated the TV and updated the app there is not much you can do.

Smart TVs suck, the main issue being so many different operating systems and each manufacturer having to update the apps to work with their specific models. And then you're at their mercy when they decide they're no longer going to update.

Best thing to do is get a dedicated smart device, like a fire stick. they're on sale regularly for $25 and if you're really cheap then $20. Would really recommend you get one or two. You got to ask yourself, is $50 worth your sanity and time? I know it's a tough decision seeing this is Slickdeals...

Most recent reason why everyone should be armed at all times:
Charlotte, NC school shooting. 2 killed 4 wounded. April 2019
This was a gun free zone. The shooter didn't care. Gun free zones only hurt honest citizens. If someone was armed there could've been 1 less death.

Are both tv's firmware Version 2004.0 ? because the 2004.0 fixes netflix but if all are updated then try to reset the app hub sometimes the app hub won't update apps that are signed in so make sure you sign out first on mine i just signed out and when i signed in the app updated. I hope this helps

Getting a smart device was the way i was going to go forward with this if i couldn't get it to work. Its not something i want to spend hours dealing with.

They both have the 2004.0 firmware. I had messaged Samsung about it and the rep said that even thou they are both 6 series TV's, one is a 6500 series and the other 6100 series and to contact Netflix about it.

The TV with the issue is the 6500 series, so i'm assuming its newer than the 6100 series and yet it has an older netflix version on it.

If you do not have one already with your 65" TV, then just go get a TV streamer device\game system (Roku, Fire TV, Xbox, PS4, Nvidia Shield, etc.) and use that. Most internal Smart TV applications are minimal at best and while they will usually get the job done, there really is no reason to use it if you have something better and\or more capable.

Not worth chasing after Samsung and their software department which is probably outsourced to some third world country\company.

My 2 cents.

Total guess coming up here so take it with a pinch of salt but do you have many more apps on the 6500 series? Maybe there's not sufficient space to upgrade. If you're going the smart device route it may be worth deleting whatever you can first (including netflix if possible) and then trying to install it since you have nothing to lose.

Oh i'm not planning to spend time messing with this. If i could get it to work then great. Right now its set to my wifes account. She is use to the setup on the other tv and has a problem with learning new setups. She never could get the hang of the PS3. I'll just use a different streaming device for myself and be done with it.

Space isn't the issue. Theres tons of space and i've already removed all the stuff i'm never going to use.
