I think this is the set that had a limited promo earlier this year, where you could get a special booklet mailed from Lego. You had to email them proof of purchase and it was only good for a limited number of redemptions. That's one thing that made it a special set. I'm pretty sure that promo is long-expired now. So it's still a nice set due to the unusual theme box, plus a decent price-per-piece.

BTW I think I recall people saying they found some for "$6 at Wal-mart B&M clearance big YMMV." I think I paid about $25 for mine, down from the original $29.97. I was happy with that. My local stores don't usually ever hit the "ridiculous clearance markdown" point -- I guess it depends on where you live. Anyway recommend for $20 but probably no "free" booklet offer any more.

I have the link below, if you want to check if it's any cheaper in your area. All stores around me are $25

Yeah, I was someone who found them for $6 after Christmas. I was shocked. A pile of 25+ of them on an end cap with no price posted. This was in Milwaukee. Unfortunately I didn't bother to brickseek at the time to see if it was reproducible, so I can't speak to what it will be like this year... Just food for thought.

And yes, even $20 is a good value for this set.

What's less useful about the 900 piece set? I picked one up on Black Friday for $20 since it had double the pieces of this set.

Have you ever used Legos? There are many pieces not good for much.
Like the 300 piece socket sets that have 40 useful sockets and 260 bits you'll never need/use.

I purchased 3 of these in September for $10 each at Walmart. Giving them out as Christmas gifts Smilie. Very happy with my deal!
