These are last year's modeld. I am a little surprised they still have any of these.

That being said, I would prefer the 3070 over the 3080 for my needs. They reduced the number of scenes in the current model and did not add much in the way of new features.

Any idea how many scenes there are in the 3070 vs 3080? Also, does a scene save literally every setting? I'm mostly interested in having different scenes with different audio delay settings.

Agreed. I was recently in the market and considered both. Went with the 3070. "Upgrades" seemed negligible and the 3070 with just as much power and XLNs came in cheaper. 3070 has a front HDMI in, 3080 does not. Excellent price, would jump on it if I didn't have one already.

Lip sync is configurable for each scene, my 1070 has 12 available scene, you can configure almost every setting. Except speaker audio levels which are mapped to Patterns.

Patterns save different speaker audio levels. I don't know how many the 3070 offers but my 1070 has two. I have a nighttime pattern and daytime pattern configured.

Oh wow didn't notice scenes reduced in 3080... I mean why..?

Anyway documentation says 3080 has 8 scene and the 3070 has 12 scenes.

2018 updates vs 2017 Aventage Models:

Surround Artificial Intellegence
Wireless Multi-Cast Surround
1-More HDMI Output (Zone 2) for 3 Total
2-XLR Pre-Outs (Front L/R Speakers)
New Back-Lit remote, with 8 Scene buttons
Bluetooth version 4.2 (receiver only)
5.8Ghz WiFi support added
Improved GUI (?)

Removed from 2017 Models:

1-HMDI input from Front Panel (absent on 2018 models)
Number of Scenes reduced from 12 to 8 (4 less on 2018 models)
Bluetooth V2.1 Receiver and Transmitter (Transmitter eliminated on 2018 models)
Up-Mixing of Dolby Digital, DD+ and TrueHD will be limited to Dolby Surround (or a Yamaha DSP mode) on New 2018 models
(2017 models can still use Neural:X Up-Mixer on any sound format, up to 7.1.4)

Wow hadn't noticed they removed front hdmi too. I've used that quite a few times, comes in handy. At such a high cost for those models, seems like a bad decision. Are knobs still metal on the 3070s and 3080?

Yes, pretty sure they're aluminum on my 3070 they're nice and cold. Not sure about the 3080. And yeah that front HDMI comes in handy. BTW, meant to say XLR, not XLN. Planning to get an external amp in the near future.

Ya they switched to plastic knobs on the 10series a few years ago. They feel light and lifeless. Fortunately i use them maybe one time every couple months. Still sucks though.

Really happy with my Aventage 770, especially for $356. The 770 is the value sweetspot for the Aventage line IMO.

Plastic volume knobs don't make the actual sound any worse.

smh
