I have this camera for 2 years now. It just stopped working this week because of the battery inside. The battery inside no longer hold a charge so it won't power on even when it is plugged in and powered. I guess that is to be expected for such camera, video quality is good.

Why the hell would anyone buy this over the Aukey DR02 which has the same specs and form factor, but runs off a capacitor (better durability and heat resistance) and is $30 less?

I'd recommend the Viofo A119v2. It's a well tested reliable cam. I'd also recommend the same for rear cam since most cams compromise on rear camera quality. In case one cam goes bust, at least you'lL have some footage from the other one.

That's a good point - thanks. Plus it's capacitor, which I could use in my climate.

absolutely ! some folks have gotten dual cams and just used the 'rear' cam on each side to capture a "360" coverage but I think that is a overkill. 2 A119s are just fine

If I have a tint strip across the top of my windshield would the image be affected greatly?

You're comparing this to the DR02? Why didn't you do everyone a favor while you were at it, by comparing the specs? At least say the difference in screen size doesn't justify the cost difference.

You should play around with the placement before permanently fix it in place, to see if the view would be obstructed. That's the good thing to have the screen. Depending on the angle of your windshield though, I would put it slightly below and behind the tint to block glare.
