Why added Deal Alerts target 'Hot Deals' forum by default?

Hi all,

I have noticed that I have been missing a lot of slick deals on the items that are in my deal alerts. First, I thought there is a problem with my email but then realized that the ones that I haven't received are posted on other forums like "Deal Talk", then I went and checked the alerts and realized that the Target Forum is defaulted to "Hot Deals".

I am not sure why is this a default option? I assume users would expect to see all the deals related to the items they are looking for so maybe when they search for an item then click on add deal alert they expect to receive all the alerts and not just some of them, right? I didn't know this design model despite being a longtime user.

P.S: I've missed two great Logitech Harmony deals I've been waiting for!

Hi payamf1,

Deal Talk forum is where deals get moved to when they are no longer working or expired. So you haven't missed any deals. All the live deals are posted in Hot Deals, this is the reason for the default setting. Hope this helps to clarify. Smilie

Sorry. I didn't know that. There might be some other reason why I am not receiving my deal notification then. Thanks

check the settings on your da...if you're not getting them soon enough it may be because your minimum rating is set too high. also if you want to get the alerts right away, set them to "instant" instead of "daily"
