Yeah you missed out on both games. Both were excellent, super fun games.

It is really unfortunate that 1) player preferences have changed towards dumb survival games like Fortnite (ironically, also an Epic Games production), 2) UT development failed the people who played game. Instead of following a Half-Life type of development where you just take the old game and make it look pretty with some slight new added features (i.e. don't fix what ain't broke), they went with an EA Games style where they nerf the game due to comments from a vocal minority. UT2003 was just a failure,. They nerfed the hell out of it because the vocal minority deemed it too spammy...too many "spammy" weapons which were inevitably removed from the previous game. But it introduced an amazing new game type Bombing Run which was perfect in 2003. While introducing a successful NEW game type, they destroyed the others. DM sucked, CTF sucked, Assault was removed, Domination sucked. They fixed that with UT2004, introducing the highly popular Onslaught and re-introducing Assault much better than UT99, but destroyed other things, namely Bombing Run. UT3 did the same thing, introduced new things but destroyed others - Onslaught was completely ruined. There are only so many times a community can withstand being sh()t upon before finally abandoning it.

There was a pretty active group of Epic guys developing Unreal Tournament 4. They put out a pre-Alpha FOUR years ago and it has been in pre-Alpha stages ever since. Yes, you read that right. FOUR years ago. The major reason nothing has happened since then is one word, money. Fortnite is raking in the big bucks for them, so they have no motivation to develop a game that is planned to be free (where money is made from selling licenses to the modding software I think?).

Long story short, $4 is a good price, but all of these games are DoA.

Wish I had a decent computer back when these games were active. UT and 2004 looked fun.

Fairly Painless. Thank you OP.

I actually have the Unreal Tournament 2004 install DVD around here somewhere from back in the day. Easier to just get it on steam.

Maybe if these games were included with windows and Xbox purchases, they would see a resurgence for a while... Instagib was my favorite on ut2004. Pretty sure the demo allowed LAN play too

What was cool is you don't have to even play on line. You can play against the games players...
Miiiisster Crow!

If you played War Robots (Android) you will understand the copying they did from Unreal Tournament games.. even the voices now are in War Robots. {RAMPAGE} etc.
But, War Robots is one of T H E most expensive games you'll ever play.

UT doesn't cost.. what .. $4?
I'm going to load up my UT 2004 and check it out on my new 4k Samsung 7100 50" TV tomorrow!Dalek
