Can't resist. This one is worth opening my switch early and getting the deal on digital odyssey. Hope son does not notice it was opened.

Pretty sure you can just buy it on the online eshop.

I agree, you can just go to the e-shop website, create an account and purchase. It will download to the system once it's powered on setup on the same account you purchased the digital copy.

You need to have signed in on a Switch first. I had the same issue with the one I got from Gamestop.

You have to register a Switch to your account to download digital games. This means you would have to setup the switch and sign into the desired Nintendo account.

Thanks! Was able to buy on the website. Didn't know I could do that. Good deal for Diablo. Was able to use the $10 off Walmart ecard and had 250 coins. Ended up costing about $27. Worth it for digital copy and not have to deal with the Walmart Black Friday lines.

No, I tried before we gave our daughter hers on her birthday a week ago. It wouldn't let me until I set up an account on the switch itself... maybe to deter people from thinking they are buying copies of games they can physically give to other people? Either way...

Yes, you are correct, I tried to do it but it redirected me to a page saying I needed to sign into the switch. It's an Xmas gift for my kids so not sure I want to open it up. Oh well

I opened mine (er my kids'). In their excitement, I'm sure they will not notice. And here's my rationale...would they want a Switch with no games loaded...or several games preloaded!! Smilie

Novice question... Why would you want the physical copy when you can download? Perhaps you can get trade in later? If you buy physical do you also get digital?
