Pop up ads using Slickdeals

3,230 1,286 December 6, 2018 at 04:17 PM
I know there are several posts regarding this issue but I'm making another as this is still happening to me. I didn't realize it has been going on so long until I started reading the other posts. I just received another a few minutes ago. Are the mods going to address this issue and get it fixed? If nothing is done I will have to stop using SD. It is unusable. Please fix this ASAP. I only get these pop ups using SD. I am using my iPhone. Thanks

Regards,

-Xzi

No, it's a bad advertisement banner. It's happened before.

That's a YOU problem. You have a virus. Sd is fine.

Edit: that came off shitty, so I apologize. I was just trying to say that you skills check your phone and make sure your phone or browser wasn't hacked. Quickest easy for a low level hack is to change your home page to default up Google then see if the problem persists. Often the virus will take what you enter in the address bar and prepend it with a docent website that gives you pop ups or opens an invisible tab that mines crypto currency
No it's not. It's been happening to me for a long time now -- ONLY on Slickdeals and only when I'm using my iPhone. It's been especially bad today -- to the point that I had to find a desktop computer to view Slickdeals just now because the site is unusable right now on my phone with all of the popups.

BULLSHIT. The error can be replicated on iPad and is unique to Slickdeals. Guy doesn't have a virus. See the other thread.

Had this problem a year ago and its back. Only happens on my ipad.

SD will ask for a bunch of info to narrow it down, last time a user of the site all but told them how to fix it (and pretty much did that too).

I can't even use the site because of this...cant believe they havent gotten a grip on this to stop the bad advertiser scripts.

C'mon slickdeals! Get this figured out for good and ban those advertisers permanently!

This is a problem where a trojan advertisement you clicked on on some other site happened to append the cookies for the last site you visited, or the domain attached to your address (websites get information about your navigation history up to one step(site) away, so where you cam from and what you went to).

Clear your site history, cookies, and website data files and you shouldn't have the issue anymore. I thought you had the issue in general, not only this site and only on iDevices
I'm sorry but you're completely wrong. This is a Slickdeals problem, not a problem where they clicked on an ad. Many of us are having this exact same problem. It's only on Slickdeals that this is happened if.

It's happening every time I visit the site since yesterday. The site has become unusable. Happening even after I cleaned website data and cookies on safari browser

I am having the same problem, again this year. Same thing as last year. I have cleared ALL of my cookies, reset my browser settings and lost a LOT of data/history I cannot get back.

Listen here SD....this is a real problem. I cannot use your site for my holiday shopping. Your advertisers and sources are LOSING revenue. Figure it out. I am spending a finite amount of money in the next week and when it's gone, it's gone.

I've found if I use Chrome, I don't have the same issue.....yet. However, it is popping up on Safari on SD... and now I've seen it on others sites too. (They're stalking me).
