Not a true home mini because you have to click the TALK button on the remote. But definitely a chromecast + android tv. I use mine everyday but I have a google mini in the same room.

Shield will never come down to $40.

I have the Fire Sticks, Mi Box, Shield (current version) and mini PC's set up all around the house.

Mini PC's are the most versatile and powerful, but most complicated.

Shield is the best Android TV.

Mi Box comes right after Shield, less powerful but way more cost effective. For the money, they are the best option to add to your TV. You can add a USB hub and USB network card to it as well.

Fire Sticks are last, cheap but limited and remote does not have volume control native.

So is the way to think about this:
"You get a Google Home Mini *and* a Chromecast *and* an AndroidTV, all for $40"?

Because I'd love to be able to move my Google Home Mini out of the Living Room and into a bedroom... same for my Chromecast. Smilie

It's not a mini unless your TV is on and you have the remote in your hand. I would say it's more of a cheap Chromecast Ultra which still a ridiculous $75 MSRP.

anyone have one of these? did a quick search and they seem to be trying to hide what chipset/SoC this uses. Is it one of those rockchips or allwinner which will not last long?

Reminder that this version does not have an ethernet port so streaming 4K may not work as well from what I read from reviews. Really interested in getting one to replace my Fire Stick 4K but reading reviews that 4K Kodi doesn't work that well, but it works flawlessly on the Fire Stick. Any other opinions on switching from the Fire Stick?

You can do 4k streaming with very little bandwidth if you are using online source(Netflix, YouTube). If you are planning on streaming a 4k Bluray file that's 50 GB over the network, then you will run into problem wifi.

Keep the fire stick. You can buy an Ethernet adapter for $15. I did that and 4k streaming is not a problem anymore!

Android TV for cheap.....but lots of reviews talk about the sluggish performance. It sucks how there's only two options for adding Android TV. Probably best to wait for another Nvidia Shield TV deal.

I believe the specific variant is S905X. I'm not sure whether the X is a wildcard or not
