Just wanted to add my .02 regarding Crucial MX___ SSD drives. I work in IT and we would buy these drives to replace the spinning drives that came in the laptops we purchased for employees. We had a pretty high failure rate compared to a few of the other brands we've tried. We actually switched to a brand "Axiom" based on price comparisons and not one has failed us yet this year vs the Crucial which we had about 8 come back this year alone for replacement. One of the big issues we had was the drives would stop booting into Windows. We could see the drive in BIOS but it wouldn't be available to boot from. Since it was under warranty we contacted Crucial and they'd recommend running their firmware updater and sure enough the drive would come back to life. We'd end up using the drive as transfer\storage etc since we didn't trust them any longer to deploy in users machines. I would not buy a Crucial SSD for personal usage but I do have to say their support was responsive and helpful.

Just installed the Samsung 860 Evo, nice boot times.. some programs apparently have other initialization delays unrelated to loading, so it won't make a 3yo laptop shiny new, just boot time and file transfers speedy as it should.. I think it was a worthy upgrade despite 21 screws on the Acer...

Good deal....been holding out for the Evo 860 and growing impatient. If I'm not going to be cloning an old HD or SSD is the difference between this MX500 and Evo minimal?

I'm not an expert by any means but I think as a base SSD they're pretty much the same, maybe different warranty and the EVO is much better at cloning.
