I'm trying to come up with an excuse to leave Cleveland to visit California.........

Cleveland is great, I love it here..... but I don't know that I'd recommend coming in Jan/Feb.

I moved to the area from TX and like it... very under-rated.... it can be a bit dreary in winter, though.

Rock & Roll Hall of fame
Pro Football Hall of fame
Cuyahoga Valley National Park
Hiking / Ohio & Erie Canal towpath
2 presidential memorials
Cedar Point (one of the largest and best amusement parks -- not really good for winter, though)

Actually, yes there is! I know Cleveland gets a bad rap. I'm from the Akron area (LeBron's home town) and travel to Cleveland frequently for business and pleasure. Some things you may want to check out:

* The Rock n Roll hall of fame. - If you are a music lover, this is a must see. Tons and tons and tons of exhibits and memorabilia. All really well done and interesting even for casual fans.

* Food and beer scene - cleveland is becoming famous for its beer and great restaurants. Liberty brewing company, great lakes brewing and a few others are standouts. Celeb chef Michael Symon has a bunch of great places to check out. I could go on for a while about that.

* The Cleveland orchestra is one of the best in the world. Playhouse square (theater district) has a bunch of great shows.

* The house from Christmas Story (Ralphy and the Red Ryder BB Gun) is here in cleveland and you can tour it.

* If you like outdoors stuff you can visit one of dozens metro parks and even go skiing just south at Brandywine/Boston Mills

* The world's best amusement park - Cedar Point - is just about 30 minutes to the west in Sandusky. This park has the best assortment of hard-core roller coasters anywhere on the planet.

Lots to do!

Ohh, and thanks for the post OP... may take my wife on a quick jaunt to the west coast at these prices.

We have 4 seasons in Cleveland. We might not have Lebron anymore - but we have Tristan and i think there is some excitement with one of the Kardashian "ladies". Other than that... Uhm... Let's see hardly any sun, bad traffic for people not going any place, but lots of comfort foods.

Great for people to LEAVE cleveland. Although I'm not sure I'd go to LA. Culture shock from Cleveland.

As someone who likes living in Cleveland most of the year, don't come here in Jan or Feb, you'll hate it.

I think this benefits more of the people from Cleveland to come to California in January or February

Plenty to do in Cleveland the surrounding area.
But not in Jan/Feb. It's cold, and cloudy, like the sun doesn't exist cloudy. There's snow and more snow.

The Rock Hall is good, Pro Football Hall is also good and around an hour away. Amish Country is well known and is about 30 minutes from the Pro Football Hall. Lots of museums in Cleveland. Playhouse Square is the largest theatre district in the US outside of Broadway. Cedar Point is a great coaster park, but isn't much for non-coaster fans. The Zoo is one of the better ones, specifically the Rainforest.

We used to live in Canton near the Pro Football Hall of Fame. That's an amazing flight price.

Pretty good deal. Never been to LA...but I've played enough GTA 5 that I think I know the layout lol. Rather tempting as the weather is ass here right now (as always).

you think Cleveland traffic is bad? Then you've obviously never been to LA. Pull up google traffic maps anytime between 7AM and 10PM and you'll see it's all red.
