    If you need pure gaming 8700k is the top dog for now. If you need work (that utilizes the core counts) and gaming without breaking the bank, then the 2600x is really damn good at $180. If you can match it with a good B450 or cheaper X470 motherboard for $100-$110, you've got a nice system going. If you do go with any Ryzen CPUs like the 2600x, make sure to use higher clocked ram, as you will notice performance gains. Try to aim for at least 3000 or 3200 mhz ram

    Good synopisis. I'll only add that at 1440p or 4k, the difference between the 8700k and 2600X, is very small. At 1080p the 8700k has a 10-15% lead though.

    Finally pulled the trigger on a Zen+ CPU to complete my new build! I've been eyeing the 2700x but couldn't justify the price even at the sale price of $260. I'm sure I'll be just as happy with the 2600x. It should be a vast improvement over my FX-8320.
