Paid $160 for ours a few months ago and are thrilled with it. It does a great job of picking up dog fur and we only have to vacuum once every two weeks now. It doesn't work well on carpets but does great on wood and tile. It doesn't bump into things hard at all and will slow down when it nears something and turn away. Had to move around the base charging station as it had trouble with a few spots that were next to things. Have it to run on a schedule while we are at work and when we come back, it is back on it's charging base and ready to have the bin emptied. Somehow it is almost full everyday. After a week or so, you will figure out what it gets caught on and be able to fix those things and now it never has an issue. It doesn't have virtual mapping but has single room, spot, wall, and full cleaning modes. Love the wall mode as it will just go along all of the walls and does a great job of getting the pet hair from corners. Ordered the maintenance refill for $15 [amazon.com] and have yet to replace anything as the app gives you a life percentage left and we still have 25% left. I take the main roller off once a month and go at it with scissors to cut all of the hair and random things out and it works good as new. The family is really happy that we got it and can't wait to afford a mapping robot eventually!

we have had similar experience with ours. it never finds it's dock to recharge. i'm going to try placing the charging dock in a more open area and see if that will help.

I hate this vacuum. It wanders around aimlessly. It eventually dies and never returns to the dock, even when cleaning just a hallway and a bathroom.

After using it for a month all I can say is that it is less of a vacuum and more of a broom. It works best on wood or tile. I have to say that my 3 yr old Neato is a much better on all floors especially carpet.

Does anyone know which is better...ECOVACS DEEBOT N79S vs. Roombas? (Other than the steep price difference).

According to the manual there is a certain clearance that is required to place the dock. Initially we didn't follow the instructions and deebot couldnt find it's way home. After making the adjustment, deebot is now able to sense it's way automatically. We have been happy with the purchase and works great with our cat that sheds a lot.

Same. Watch for a deal for a Neato Botvac. I got a D3 recently and it is a night/day difference. Hugs corners, smartly maneuvers around, and maps the house which you can see on the app.

I got the neato d3 and the deebot n79s. The side brush on the n79s make a huge difference. The d3 doesn't get a lot of spots with its brush. I'm returning the d3 even though I wanted mapping but what's the use of mapping if it doesn't catch things!? The battery of the deebot is also much better and the d3 get stuck a LOT when the deebot doesn't. Just my 2¢.

My wife and I call ours Droomba for "Dumb Roomba". Does a pretty good job on hardwood as people say, also pretty nice that it goes under couches and beds. ANY kind of wire/cord/string will tangle this thing up. Also slightly inclined things like the base of my speaker stands it doesn't recognize and gets stuck trying to mount. Mine is actually pretty good at finding the base, so when I come home it's either back in its station or tangled in something.

I bought an M80 deebot for around $100, but it's a refurb and all scratched up. How does this compare in regards to performance if I don't care about mopping?
