Loved Zatoichi, there's a whole line of follow on movies in the criterion collection. Storylines are similar but use the same actor and are OK quality. If you like #1 there's more to collect.

Also, commenting to complain about the 2003 remake. Don't watch it, the ending totally ruins the film. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0363...f_=nv_sr_1

I have the Blu ray box set..... There are some I can watch at any given time. If unfamiliar with the series as a whole, people should check out a couple, because they are great films.

How is the box set? Seems like it's on Amazon for $118 for all 25 films. Slightly better deal, though of course, not digital.

ahh, the memories. zatoichi at the kokusai. then, across the street, david chiang and ti lung at the liberty. anyone remember zatoichi vs the one arm swordsman? there were 2 endings. took my brother in law to a zatoichi movie, he was making so much noise(DID YOU SEE THAT? DID YOU SEE THAT?) my other fellow zatoichi enthusiast friend was so embarassed, he walked out.

I loved the 2003 Zatoichi film. The ending is typical Kitano silliness.

I too have the Blu-Ray set and there are so many great movies there. Start with the first couple that are listed in this deal and see if you enjoy them. Criterion haven't gone 4k yet so this is the best there is, and these are old movies anyway.

You mean the song and dance?
I thought the movie was great (haven't seen any of these originals), and I love the actor.

I don't own any digital stuff so I have never compared (have all the Criterion Blu-rays....... 500+ I'd guess with a few accidental duplicates). Packaging and transfers are wonderful. If you want them all it's not a huge obtrusive box (like their dvd set of Kurosawa 25)

Is that supposed to be included? It's certainly not a Zatoichi film
