Glad to see an occasional StL flight deal. Pretty rare & much appreciate the heads-up even if this
deal isn't for me.

I'm currently here in Shanghai and just came from Beijing a couple days ago. EVERYTHING uses WeChat pay or Zhifubao (requires Chinese bank account). You can use cash, but there are places some places that do not accept cash anymore, only electronic payment. Some places do accept Apple Pay, almost no one takes Credit Card.

Cash works, but you'll get the stink eye often. I used 100 RMB note to pay for a 10 RMB can of chips at a conscience store in Beijing and the clerk was pissed. Lol. I needed change for room cleaning tips!

The electronic payment system is pretty amazing though. Wish the States had it this simple and as wide spread. Scan a QR code and it's paid.

Also remember nothing Google based works without a VPN to a connection outside China.

Dear people that are wah wah wahhhing about it being a specific deal, please stop.

This is a good deal for a pretty damn central location. There are all sorts of cheap flights into and out of STL. It's pretty annoying for us to constantly see crap from LA or New York etc...that stuff may be good deals for you but it's much less relevant to folks here in this area.

If this deal is not relevant to you, you can actually just skip looking at the deal. There's no need to cry about it.

And if you do feel the need to cry about it all of us folks here in STL will post a ton of microcenter deals just to annoy you even more.

Wow!
But I think a tourist visa is $140, and it's not so easy to get. I've heard it gets kicked back at least once for minor mistakes that may or may not exist.

I recently booked similar flight LAX>PEK for $371 (same airline, 4/18-4/22).

Great flight price, and nice hotels in Beijing can easily be under $100. I paid for flights and hotels using Chase points, so super juicy.

What's not juicy is the Visa cost! Difficult to sort out unless you use "agency".. Cost is $220pm and obviously can't use Chase points!

Still a slick price, but you can't avoid a notable cash outflow when it come to traveling to China due to visa cost.

Perfect opportunity to go on my food tour of China. If I could just afford it.

Man this is so tempting since I'm in stl. Only prob is one week might not be enough to fly that far. Planning a trip in April but want to take the kids.

It requires you to send your actual passport in. Because of all of the travel I was doing, I had to send it in roughly 2 months before my trip, with priority processing. No problems. Have had other family members send theirs in and nobody I know has ever had a problem.

How long do these deals typically last? Wife and I can travel for our ten year anniversary in March for $400 per person, but have to run it through the right channels with job to make sure I can get off...

Any clue on how long this may be available? Never done SkyScanner...

It will probably be gone by morning.

Thanks! I figured. I assume if it's still available tomorrow after I can go through the proper steps, it's just meant to be.
