Seems like a decent deal, especially if you have rewards to burn at Best Buy.

What are you doing in this thread then. Another narcissist that only cares to spew his own opinions. Treating SD like Twitter.

I want to see his Match.com profile. "I'm not into physical media, my pad is a streaming only zone. I drink PBR and savor the smell of my own farts." As far as this player is concerned, I can't recommend it at this price. I bought it before Xmas and had multiple issues with it freezing on certain movies even after firmware updates. Was given a LG UBK80 for Xmas and it's a noticeable improvement for $40 more. This Magnavox is the same as the $25 Sanyo at Walmart on clearance, which I bought 2 of for gifts. At that price it's worth the gsmble, especially since others seem to have okay luck with this product. $60 is a bit steep IMO

pretty sure any electronic type / manufacturer is capable of sending out a lemon these days. I'm on my second X1000ES UHD player from Sony as the first was a freeze/glitch nightmare. second is pretty much perfect. this is a great jumping in price for UHD and probably worth the risk.

I have it and works well for me so far but have not used a lot yet. For the price it is not bad.

Some people appreciate having the best quality and discs still destroy digital copies in that fashion. You think you're getting anywhere near the bitrate of a 4K UHD disc on your streamed or downloaded UHD copies of movies? You aren't, or even close.

Vudu streams their UHD collection at 15 Mbps MAX, bitrates for 4K UHD discs max out in the 100 Mbps range for comparison. You're missing out. There's an awful lot of compression going on so you can get your digital UHD copy to play. Digital copies are great for what they are - portable on the go version of your movie collection, but that's how they should be treated, not as the only means of watching movies you purchase, because it does a major disservice to the original copies in terms of quality if you're at home and can watch on a nice tv or projector.

I'd rather have intelligent replies on threads. I guess neither of us are getting what we want this year.
