Please note that Oregan Publishing has a reputation for taking free Librivox audio recordings and selling them. They simply strip the "Librivox recordings are in the public domain" bits from the recordings. Often times they even rename the narrator.

It's not illegal, since as far as I know Librivox recordings specifically allow for such (re)use. But just know that you are probably paying for something that is available for free.

A lot of these are in the public domain and available for free from Project Gutenberg.

If you still like good old fashioned text like me, the kindle version is only $0.99 as well.

As are the complete works of
Shakespeare
Jack London
Dostoyevsky
Tolstoy
HG Wells
Charles Dickens
Rudyard Kipling

To name a few more.

Does anyone know of the production value of these audiobooks? Also, I think if you have audible it's 66 cents.

Thanks for the heads up. Just read add'l info about that and it explains why some audiobooks had much lower quality or editing. Many are still good as most modern Big Tech ones are recorded in their awesome studios (which they used to allow local charities to record in on weekends a couple of years back)
