First time poster, so please be kind. Purchased this yesterday on Newegg and wanted to pass it along. 88% 4+ egg rating. It's for older systems, but compared to what they're charging for other dual channel kits, I thought it a deal.

Repped for posting this deal. Think I'm going to pass though - would jump on it if the timings were better.

DDR3

FYI, don't go out thinking this is going to work with a Ryzen CPU or an Intel CPU from the last 3-4 years.

No its not. You need ddr4, not ddr3.

Would it work in this?

It is a DDR3 system, but i'd check the mobo compatibility. If you do get it, I wouldn't mix it with their DDR3L stick that's in there

I usually check compatibility on crucial.com for when I'm getting RAM friends and family.
It'll show you crucial memory, but its pretty easy to cross reference pins and speed. Speed they show will be max, but they'll show lower end sticks too.

If you are going from 8GB to 16GB, don't even worry about speed, the upgrade to 16GB for $50 will far outweigh any timings.

The Dell XPS 8700 desktop should have a haswell/4th gen based processor which uses DDR3. Yes, this should work if that's the case.

I would pull whatever is in there and replace it with both of these.
