The important stats are 3.00 CFM at 40 PSI, 2.20 CFM at 90 PSI and 8 gallons of reserve air at 120 psi. Each person needs to weigh those numbers with their expectant use and buy appropriately.

Also, most air compressors come with steel tanks and will last for many years as long as they are regularly drained.

Some people only need a 1hp motor, and steel lasts a long time if you take care off it. It is a good compressor at a good price; it just doesn't meet your needs.

I'm not aware of any consumer-grade compressors without steel tanks.

Camel shows $0.94 more than lowest price ever (2018-11-22) and FakeSpot [fakespot.com] reports "A" rating.

Can't speak to the quality specifically, but looking like a slick deal to me!

Nice deal. They price matched Walmart but failed to take into account Walmart's extra charge for freight shipping. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Califo.../126789651

With a measly 1hp pump and soon to be rusted steel tank, you're just buying misery.

Several years ago I purchased a similar model, I'm not sure if it's exactly the same one off-hand. It's great for typical homeowner use and is fine for running the occasional air tool. It's not dead quiet, but you could have a normal conversation standing next to it. It is far quieter than the Craftsman oil-free model it replaced.

California air tools makes the best air compressor I've ever owned. I have the $300-ish model, but after owning one I'll never go back to another brand. Very quiet (compared to another other brand), good construction.

Quiet yes, absolutely! Good construction, no way! Once upon a time, but nowadays it's shoddy Chinese construction and horrid fit and finish. It'll be their downfall.

The best built and strongest mobile compressors come from Makita (MAC5200 is best of breed), Rolair and IR.

Maybe mine is old by this point. When did they switch to Chinese manufacturing? I bought mine when they were special order only and not sold in retail stores (at least in the southern US).

Yeah, you probably and fortunately got an older model like the 4020 when they were built well. Take a look at them nowadays, it's just sad. They've farmed out their manufacturing to apparently the lowest budder. The fit, finish and tolerances are appalling. And customer support is a joke and replacement parts a fortune. They now off label many of their twin tank models too...especially for Home Depot under the Husky brand and labeled as Quiet-Flow. Some go on sale/clearance for as little as $35.

Wow, that's a shame, thanks for the info. I guess that explains why they've been popping up at stores now. Cheaper manufacturing equals more profit for both parties involved, and I guess they can coast by on the name and the quiet motor technology. Shame.
